Lisa’s best friend
When Lisa was six years-old, she used to live with her parents in a small
cottage in the countryside together with her grandparents. For her seventh
birthday, she got a small puppy that she named Max. Soon, the puppy became her
super best friend. Of course, she treated him with great love. She fed him and
brushed his fur daily. They used to go in the woods next to her grandparents’
little farm and play fetch. Other times, Lisa would hide one of her dolls in the
forest just to see if Max could find it and she wasn’t surprised to see how smart
he was. Every day spent together was very fun.
One day, Lisa felt ill and needed to go to the hospital. Her condition was
pretty serious and needed surgery. After the surgery, she immediately started
feeling better but she still had pains. When she got home, she was sad because
she had pains and couldn’t move. But when they entered the house, Max greeted
her, wagging his tail. He was so happy to see her and started jumping up and down.
He was restless because finally he got his friend back. When Lisa saw his
happiness, she seemed to have forgotten about all the pain and cheered up. Max
saw her smile and brought one his favourite toy and placed it on her lap. He
wanted to play fetch. It was a game that they could still play even though she
couldn’t move easily.
One day, Max made Lisa a surprise. He saw that Lisa’s mother had bought
a bag of Lisa’s favourite cookies. He gently picked the bag up and went to Lisa to
surprise her. Lisa had a big smile on her face. It seemed that now it was Max’s
time to feed her.
During her recovery weeks, Lisa was joyful because her best friend was
taking care of her and because they could still play their favourite game. All the
pain faded because she could smile again. The reason…Max, of course!
