General Purpose: To argue that E-Learning is better way of learning. Specific Purpose: To argue that E-Learning can be a better way of learning. Thesis Statement: e-Learning is a better way of learning because it helps prevent the spread of Covid-19, face to face bullying, and the exclusion of students with disabilities. Attention Step: We can all agree that adults and some children have been studying remotely for years now. I believe it a lot of remote learning/e-learning started back in 1999 and probably for a slew of different reason. Rather parents did not want their children mingling with other students so they decided to home school, or the child had some sort of illness or disablilties that prevented them from attending a traditional school, and finally the age old bullying which almost everyone experiences at sometime or another. Adults have also started to adapt to online as well being that it allow for work- life balance. Need Step: E-Learning is a better way of learning because it helps prevent the spread of covid-19. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC7308790/ 1. With the growing spread of Covid-19 e-learning has become the go to for all aspects of the educational system. Weather you were interested in learning online or not we have been forced into a situation where we have no control of our options and we have to adapt to the way of learning, But even with the spread of covid -19 e-learning can have it pros and cons. 2. E-learning though covid-19 has been a life saver whether you attend a traditional online class or a web-ex class. This type of learning as made it possible for our young people to still be able to be educated. When the pandemic first started a lot of people were very reluctant, but I feel like as time goes on and teachers and students become more comfortable this to will become second nature. 3. I have also see a tremdous increase in creativity in how people have found way to use online. For example there are learning pod where you have one teacher that works with a small group of students to help through their assignment, which a lot of attention to the individual. Also I saw where college students setup online live tutoring session to help high school students with there studies. And then there is live class room setting where there is one teacher to classroom and just how the teachers have had to become more creative to capture each students attention and hold it for the class period. 4. Even though online has many perks during these troubling times there are also some down to this. Such as children who’s parent cannot afford internet, or children’s who’s parent are essential workers and they have no one to help them and finally the parent who is not educated and is unable to teach their kids. 5. I am a firm believer that even after covid-19 a lot of the plans that have been put in place with online will remain. I feel like it has made educator see the possibilities of e-learning and effects weather positive or negative it can have on the school and the community. E-Learning is a better way of learning because it helps prevent face to face bullying. 1. All though I am fully aware of different forms of bullying. I felt that e-learning would definitely be benefit to those who faced bullying on day to day basis at a traditional school. “In a article I reviewed it stated that “1 in 5 high school students reported being bullied at school and 1 in 7 kids said that they had been cyber bullied” https://www.verywellfamily.com/online-school-popular-option-to-avoid-bullying-4690674 2. Moving from a traditional classroom setting can be ideal for some student who suffer from bullying, but if your child is one who does spend a lot of time on the internet then the face to face bullying to transition from class to online social media platforms. Cyberbullying can be just as bad a face-to-face and have even worse affects on how a child can react to it. 3. The article I looked at made some valid points that if someone is suffering for emotional issues to begin with, which are normally triggers for bullying anyway, even if they go to online learning they still may find themselves isolated and full of self pity and doubt. So first it is really important to treat some of the underlining issues to help with the transaction. http://www.bullyingstatistics.org/content/bullying-and-suicide.html 4. The statistics on bully and sucide are overwhelming. “Over 14% of high school students who are bullied have thought about killing themselves and 7% have already attempted suicide. It is very important that we find other alternatives to helping these kids out. 5. Which bring to the benefit of online and why I said it was better than traditional class for bullying. Everyone needs a fair shot and if e-learning can provide a safe haven for kids that suffer from bullying then I definitely believe it is the way to go, because a person finds his or her groove there isn’t anything that can stop them and I’m sure if kids that bullied are moved to a better situation mostly everything that was wrong will start to make some drastic changes. E-Learning is a better way of learning because it helps prevent the exclusion of students with disabilities. 1.. Is online learning the best for student with disabilities, I have read numerous articles that suggest otherwise. Students that suffer from disabilities already are at a disadvantage because they lack a lot of the skills need to preform well in an online setting. In an article I viewed https://www.studyinternational.com/news/special-education-e-learning-canada/ “It stated that to be a good online student one must have the following things the ability to read and write, independent learning, motivation and computer literacy and many students with disabilities lack one of these skills” 2. The article also brought light to bullying because students with disabilities already have a hard time at traditional school, being in a web base class room could cause even more problems. 3. In addition the cost and time for teaching kids with disabilities is another area that would need to be addressed. Because there are so many things that can be considered a disability their needs to be a teacher that can educate in a wide array of areas. Which not only can be time consuming but also expensive. With E-learning apparently having disadvantages my next article discussed the pros of elearning for people with special needs and this is another reason why I do feel e-learning is a better way for people with disabilities. https://www.studyinternational.com/news/special-education-e-learning-canada/ 4. The student can learn at their own pace without the feeling the normal pressure that goes with traditional school. The need to travel is greatly reduced which can save money for the family. The classroom setting are established just for these students and the teacher are there to assist only them so the student is able to get undivided attention. I feel like the curiclimum is setup for people with disablilties and everything is formatted to assist in a better way of learning for them. At the end of the day bullying for people with special needs can be eliminated if the surrounding they are in are conducive to that. 5. All though the ability to teach people with special needs can be expensive there an array of programs that each city, state, and county offers to help cover cost. For example: Cares Act is providing funding for remote learning, There are governmental grants being offered to help with remote learning, Adults with special needs that are looking to complete more classes to better their chances with employment can visit the department of Labor for assistance. Also, the United States Department of Education has programs available for assistance.
