Red River Delta The Red River Delta coal basin is a large coal basin located in northern Vietnam in the Red River Delta, estimated at 210 billion tons of coal. This exploitable coal is mainly located in Thai Binh province (accounting for nearly 90 percent, followed by Hung Yen and Nam Dinh with 8.5 percent up 1.5 percent, respectively). Under the tectonic and natural conditions, the entire coal basin is divided into 8 reservoirs, 3 are in Hung Yen, 4 are in Thai Binh, and 1 is in Nam Dinh. According to the calculations of the Vietnamese authorities, the Red River coal basin has reserves can be exploited for a few hundred more years.
