Introduction
Attention grabber: Did you know for 90 plus years the world has been tantalized
by grown men putting on pads an going head to head, on the gridiron, pouring out,
blood sweat and tears on a field for an 1hour and 30mins
Slide 2
Relevance:
We call this Phenomenon Football and our country admires the men who dedicate
themselves to it, Although it may seem insane to pour millions of dollars into the
pockets of men who break themselves every Monday and Sunday night for our
entertainment. It's a Grand american tradition and most citizens wouldn't trade it
for the world.
Slide 3
Credibility:
My name is (Kamron Wright) and I have been playing football since pre-k. This
tradition runs deep in my family and I played consistently throughout middle
school and high school. This game can be very dangerous, but undeniably
exhilarating, I wanted to use this speech to uncover the Cultural truth about
American football
Central Idea: The truth is Football is Extremely Important to American Culture
Speech Outline
Initial Preview: To prove this statement we can use the accounts of the american
people, statics, and the relationship between country and flag!
Transition: The first Step in uncovering this truth is why this Game is important
to American culture.
A. Football Stays true to american ideals, capitalism and competition...survival
of the fittest
1. For example a great stadium tailgate is a sight to behold—any unhealthy,
fatty, and grilled food you could ever want in all of its amateur goodness,
tents with multiple flat-screen televisions, recreational vehicles holding
dozens of drunk people who have only partying and football on their minds.
(Webber, 2011)
2. the new york times wrote an article about how sports rivalries fill a tribal
need, watching teams compete and putting a personal stake in that fate is
half the fun on thanksgiving “There are few opportunities in life that allow
for extreme emotional experiences. Embracing rivalries pays off in those
unmatched moments of pure feeling.”(Markmen, 2014)
3. parity the fact that no team stays on top forever” Football is the ultimate
game of inches, meaning that the smallest bounce could be the difference
between a win and a loss...The NFC has sent a different team to the Super
Bowl in each of the last nine years. Nearly every single year, four or five
teams that failed to make the playoffs the prior year made it the year
after.“(Webber, 2011)
Transition: Competition breeds excitement, so let's look at how much america
invests its self in football...

3. The 2020 edition of the Super Bowl, which saw the Kansas City Chiefs emerge
victorious against the San Francisco 49ers in a thrilling final quarter comeback,
was watched by 99.9 million viewers in the United States. The most-watched
Super Bowl in history is Super Bowl XLIX(49) in 2015. This match was won by
the New England Patriots against the Seattle Seahawks, and a record 114.4 million
viewers tuned into the game. (Gough, 2020)

4.”Super Bowl XLV(45) between the Packers and Saints drew in 111 million
viewers nationwide.
It was the most-watched television program in United States history.” This is the
former record showing the consistent fanbase of the NFL. (Webber, 2011)
Display of viewership
Transition: Lastly, what sport embodies the core values of this country. A sport
that captures the essence of the Nation
All Info in Part 3 is a Direct quote

C: What football means to America’s Values
1.In america “37% say football is their favorite sport to watch, by far the most for
any sport”(jim Gordon,2018)
Speech Outline
2. This quote symbolizes one significant bond between Americans and the red
white and blue of the flag. “Football Is an honest game. It's true to life. It's a game
about sharing. Football is a team game. So is life.”
(Joe Namath)
3.There are many great American traditions, such as family gathered around
waitching Thanksgiving football. Let's be honest: there are no single days of the
year where we get our families together to play baseball or basketball simply
because it's a holiday.
But on Thanksgiving, families across the nation go out, rain or shine, to play
America's favorite sport and it has become a tradition that everyone looks forward
to every year. (Webber, 2011)
4.The Super Bowl? It is a game that defines the term "no tomorrow" and
showcases the winning team. This attribute has been considered a national holiday/
celebration for ages, especially if your team wins. It is a genuine american dream
to play in the NFL, but it is an olympic feat to make it to the superbowl.(Webber,
2011)
Sense of national pride
Conclusion
Transition to Conclusion:So now it's apparent football catches the attention of
american people all over the world but it is traditionally engraved in the
red white and blue of our flag. Football embodies the good and bad that
characterizes modern America, and, in that respect, we as Americans feel that it’s
worthy of admiration and study, as well as disdain and dismissal.
Final Summary: Football's long 92 year journey of bringing smiles on the faces of
those who play and cheer in the crowd, shows no sign of stopping anytime soon.
America relies on this sport more than any other and it has even taken over two
holidays. Football creates powerful emotions which have made a whole subculture
in the United States. It's doubtful it will ever lose its influence.
Memorable Closing:(Eveion) America is home of many talents, and football just so
happens to be one of the most important ones to us. We take pride in our favorite sport, and
we show that through games and endless amounts of news and memorabilia about our
winning teams. America is truly the mother of all things football.
