TriPollar ® Treatment Guidelines
For the face
This document does not substitute official instructions in the user manual & in the clinical in-service.
Refer to the warnings, cautions and contraindications in the user manual. In case of any
contradiction between these guidelines and the user manual, the text of the user manual governs.
TriPollar® is intended for use in dermatological and general surgical procedures for the non-invasive
treatment of mild to moderate facial wrinkles and rhytides.
Pre treatment:
• Prior
preparing the patient, make sure right expectations and potential side effects have been clarified and understood
•
Remove jewelry and piercing
•
Clean the area and thoroughly dry the skin
•
Apply medical grade glycerin to the treatment area
THE GLYCERIN MUST BE OVER 87% PURE AND KEPT IN A SMALL CONTAINER WITHOUT ANY AIR
EXPOSURE. DO NOT USE ANY OTHER PRODUCT OR LUBRICANT FOR TREATMENT.
•
Hairy areas can be treated with extra glycerin
Treatment
•
Hand the patient the Patient-Controlled Manual Switch and explain its usage
•
Place the applicator on the skin
•
Note the reading of temperature on the LCD screen or in the GUI for reference as a baseline temperature
•
Start moving the applicator slowly
• Keep
on pressing the foot-switch constantly to initiate the treatment

Technique
Step 1: Applicator 1 (Large applicator), Select Course A and warm up the cheek area:
• Warm-up phase: begin with slow circular movements on one cheek until temperature reaches 102˚ F - 106˚ F (See illustration)
• Monitor patient’s skin temperature using the integrated temperature-reading bar located in the screen and in the LED screen
of the applicator after 1-2 minutes, if needed, increase RF power by increments of 5%
• Maintenance phase: expand working area covering the entire half face until temperature reaches 102˚ F - 106˚ F and maintain
temperature. An alarm will sound halfway into the exposure time notifying the operator to shift the treatment to untreated half
face. Release of the foot switch, then repeat on the other side

Step 3: Applicator 3 (Small applicator) Select Course A and treat fine wrinkles periorbital, perioral, naso-labial folds
and hard access areas of the forehead
•
Chin area: The chin and bottom of the facial area should be treated with long elliptical movements. In addition,
’lifting’ movements may be performed by applying more pressure when moving the applicator up the cheeks
•
The periorbital (around the eyes): areas are treated with small circular movements (see picture)
•
Never treat the skin over the eye socket, work only over the bone
•
The forehead area: is treated with small circular or elliptical movements (see picture)
•
The lips area: treated with elliptical or small circular movements (see picture)

After treatment
•
Remove the glycerin with water and soap
•
The patient may resume daily activity
•
Treatment intervals are 1 week
IMPORTANT
•
Using liquid glycerin, be sure it is a high quality medical-grade product (at least 87% purity)
•
Always communicate with the patient during the treatment and ask for feedback; it is very important
to verify patient’s comfort and tolerance
•
Skin temperature must NOT exceed 107°F
•
Do NOT treat with RF energy directly over the thyroid
•
Do NOT treat the skin over the eye socket treat only over the bone
•
Always start moving the applicator on the skin before pressing the footswitch
•
Always keep the applicator moving throughout the entire treatment; stopping the applicator’s movement when RF energy is applied may cause damage to the skin
•
Keep full contact of all the electrodes with the skin during the entire treatment
•
