Instructions for Setup
In this packet, you will find:
• 14 fractions games with directions
• Answer keys
Other materials you will need for setup:
• 2 Dice
• Counters
• 1 crayon, colored pencil, or marker per player
• Each player needs a different color.
• If you laminate the game boards, students should use dry-erase
markers to play the game so that the game board can be erased.
Setting up your games:
1. Print each game board single-sided. Printing in color will look best, but
printing in grayscale will be okay too.
2. Laminate each game board, if possible. That way, you will be able to
use each game board for more than one round of play. Otherwise, you
will need to have multiple copies of each game board on hand for your
students to play.
3. Any additional materials that are needed for each game are listed on
the game itself. Gather those materials before playing.
Notes:
• The directions for each game are written on the game board so that
students can check the directions at any time.
• All games are best played with 2 players.

(Adding Proper Fractions with Unlike Denominators)
Materials: Small counters (one color per player), 2 dice
Object of the game: To be the first player to create a line of 3 boxes (vertically, horizontally, or
diagonally).
Directions: On your turn, roll both dice. Add the dice together and find their sum in the chart.
Look at the fraction problem beside that sum and solve it. Next, find a space on the game board
below that shows the answer to that problem. You may cover ONE box with the matching
answer provided that it has not already been covered. If all of the boxes for that answer have
already been covered, you do not get to cover any boxes, and it is the next player’s turn. The
first player to create a line of 3 boxes wins!

Look at the problem beside that sum and solve it.
Next, find a square on the game board below
that shows the matching answer. You may draw
ONE line connecting any two dots surrounding
that answer. When your line is the last to form a
full square, capture that square by coloring it in.
The player who captures the most squares is the

ANSWERS
Bump!
(Fraction Multiplication with Picture Models)
Materials: Dice, one game piece per player, and 8 counters per player (one color per player)
Object of the game: To get all of your counters onto the game board.
Directions: Begin on Start. On your turn, roll the dice and move your piece around the game board. Read the fraction problem that you landed on. Find a fraction model that shows
that problem in the center of the game board. You must state what the answer is. Do the following if you are correct:
• If that space is empty, place one counter on it.
• If that space has one of the other player’s counters on it, remove the other player’s counter and replace it with one of your own.
• If that space alr eady has one of your own counters on it, place a second counter on top of it. You’ve now locked in that space and cannot get bumped off.
• If that space is alr eady locked in by the other player, you cannot place any of your counters on it.
Continue taking turns and moving around the board until one player places all of his/her counters onto the center board. Note that players wil continue moving around and around
the game board until this happens.

Sum of
Dice
Squares
ANSWERS
Tic-Tac-Toe
(Area with Fractional Sides)
Materials: Small counters (one color per player), 2 dice
Object of the game: To be the first player to create a line of 3 boxes on
any of the three game boards (vertically, horizontally, or diagonally).
Directions: On your turn, roll both dice. Add the dice together and find the
rectangle dimensions in the chart. Solve for the area of that rectangle.
Then, look for the answer on any of the three game boards below. You
may use one of your counters to cover that answer. Only one box may be
covered per turn. If there are no available boxes, your turn is over. The
first player to cover a line of 3 boxes on any game board with his/her
own counters is the winner.

Roll of
Dice
( Multiplication as Scaling)
Sign to Use
>
Materials: Small counters (one color per player), 1 dice
Object of the game: To create the longest snake on the game board.
<
=
Directions: On your turn, roll the dice. Find your roll in the chart. Look at the sign beside that roll.
Next, find a space on the game board that contains a problem where that sign can be used in the
blank. You should NOT need to solve the problem to determine the correct sign.
You may cover any box that requires that sign provided that it has not already been covered. If
all of the boxes for that sign have already been covered, you do not get to cover any boxes, and
it is the next player’s turn. When all of the boxes have been covered, each player counts his/her
longest snake. To count your longest snake, look for the longest continuous path of your own
counters on the board. Paths can continue vertically and horizontally, but not diagonally. No
counter may be counted twic e. The player with the longest snake is the winner.

Bump!
(Fraction Division with Picture Models)

Sum of
Dice
Directions: On your turn, roll both dice. Add the dice together and find their sum in the chart.
Solve the problem beside that sum. Then, look for the answer on any of the three game
boards below. You may use one of your counters to cover that answer. If there are no
available boxes, your turn is over. The first player to cover a line of 3 boxes on any game board
with his/her own counters is the winner.
