The comprehensive list shows due dates and any homework assignments, quizzes or tests we have in the class. If anything’s scored, the score will be shown. If anything’s missing, then it’s flagged by an orange exclamation point. There’s also a legend down the bottom of the page that shows you all the different marks that I might use. In our math class, we have homework assignments or practices counts as “HOW-Work Ethic” where only the completion and timeless of the assignments are recorded. We either go through those problems in class, or I post answer keys in Google Classroom. Students are responsible for checking their work and ask questions. HOW-Work Ethic does not affect the student’s quarter grade, but without the completion of the relevant assignments, students are not allowed to take a quiz/test, until the assignments are made up. The students have five schools to make up the missed quiz/test, during ASB or Learning Labs. After the five school days, they need to attend Extended Day Program. A 0 is entered in Powerschool as a placeholder for any missing quiz/test, due to absence or missing assignments, until the quiz/test is made up. As you can see, many missing assignments result in 0’s as quiz scores, hence the low quarter grade.
