Found Poetry – Canada’s
Residential Schools
Each group will read through the article provided to them that
details the testimony of a survivor of Canada’s Indian Residential
School Program. Read through the article and highlight the text
that details the experience of children who were forced to attend
– what words or phrases jump out at you? shock you?
Using the testimonies, construct a “Found Poem” based on your article. The rules for a Found Poem are
simple:
 You may delete any words that you like
 You may rearrange any words that you like
 You cannot add or alter any words
