NATIONAL DRUG EDUCATION PROGRAM
BARKADA KONTRA DROGA
September 13, 2019
The issue of drug abuse has already been with us for a very long time. Knowing
the adverse effects of drug abuse in the society’s culture and general well-being, many
measures have been proposed and implemented by experts in order to reduce and
relieve, if not totally eradicate these effects. One such measure that is being done by
school is Drug Symposium.
The term “drug” was used originally to mean “medicine” but it has now been
given a new connotation. Nowadays, it may also mean fatal narcotics or that includes
cocaine, heroin, marijuana, methamphetamine and many other specifications. These
illegal drugs have their detrimental effects on the mind and body cells of the addicts
and users. The youth are the worst victim of drug addiction.
Drug Addiction is a brain disease as it changes the structure and functioning of
the brain. You become an addict once you become dependent on drug and use it
despite having knowledge of its harmful effects on health. It hinders a person from
reaching his goals in life. It can lead to harming one’s body, causing problems in
family structure, and contribute to the delinquency in society.
Our school, Don Antonio Lee Chi Uan Integrated School, adheres to help and
educate students to lessen if not eradicate the growing problem of drug addiction in
the youth today. In cooperation with local government specifically Bacolor Police
Department, a National Drug Education Program was held last September 19, 2019 at
1:00 in the afternoon at the Xevera Covered Court.
The National Drug Education Program is designed to provide an open and
comfortable atmosphere for learning by employing simple, practical details regarding
the harmful effects of illegal drugs that are easy for our pupils to comprehend.
