3. WHAT TO DO IF YOU DEVELOP SYMPTOMS?
Stay home- Home Isolation for asymptomatic or mild patients
Keep a pulse OXIMETER handy - used for measuring SpO2 (Blood Oxygen Saturation) level
If SpO2 level is < 90%, condition is considered severe, need urgent treatment
If SpO2 level is > 95%, condition is considered mostly asymptomatic
Consult Doctor – If symptoms noted, talk to a Doctor, preferably through Tele consultation.
You can also use the ArogyaSetu Self-Assessment App.
Getting Tested-Testing is done at fever clinics/swab collection centres at District & Taluk levels
At least 113 fever clinics/swab collection centres in B’luru (66 private and 47 government)
From fever Collection centres, samples sent to one of the 25 ICMR-approved testing labs in Bengaluru
All fever clinics/labs send test reports to BBMP/State Health Dept. So, may get results only from BBMP
Quarantine
Restricting movement, who may have been exposed to
the virus, to check if they are developing any symptoms
Isolation
Separating the suspected and/or infected person from
those who have not contracted the virus
BBMP sends a health team to patient’s residence for medical screening, will check patient’s temp.,
SpO2 levels & co-morbidities (Hypertension, diabetes, stroke, TB, HIV, cancer...) /pregnancy
Based on symptoms, team decides if need treatment at a COVID facility or home isolation is enough
If the person has not undergone a COVID-19 test, but has breathlessness, asthma or ILI, they will
be shifted immediately to a COVID hospital and tested compulsorily.
PREPARING ISOLATION KIT
Information
Contacts of family doctor, COVID helpline, BBMP Health Officers, RWA office bearers/local
volunteers, ambulance, medical store, medical oxygen cylinder provider, local plasma bank, people
who have recovered recently from COVID-19, private and government COVID-19 testing labs
Documents
Insurance details, medical records, list of allergies, Filled form for COVID testing
Home isolation declaration, printed, with a few spare copies and blank sheets
Other Items
Finger pulse Oximeter with spare batteries, Face masks, thermometers, regular medicines, Toiletry
& Sanitation kit, Water bottle and cutlery, electric kettle & Steamer, Garbage bags, Disinfectant
like Lizol, and hand sanitizers, Mobile charger, cable, power bank, laptop.
Cash, credit card, cheque book, banking details, etc., for payments at the hospitals
HOW TO HELP CONTACT TRACING
Maintain a dairy, listing daily contacts and places visited. In case tested positive, all
contacts can be quickly informed (and asked to go into quarantine).
MOVING TO A COVID FACILITY
Based on screening, Patient is recommended one of the following options
Home isolation
Treatment & isolation at Covid Care Centres (CCCs),
– Government. Hospitals (free) or Private Hospitals (Insurance*/ Payment)
