a r t ew Water e l y c c Cycle • describes the existence and movement of water on, in, and above the Earth. • Earth's water is always in movement and is always changing states, from liquid to vapor to ice and back again. Evaporation is when the sun heats up water in rivers or lakes or the ocean and turns it into vapor or steam. The water vapor or steam leaves the river, lake or ocean and goes into the air. Do plants sweat? People perspire (sweat) and plants transpire. Transpiration is the process by which plants lose water out of their leaves. Water vapor in the air gets cold and changes back into liquid, forming clouds. occurs when so much water has condensed that the air cannot hold it anymore. The clouds get heavy and water falls back to the earth in the form of rain, hail, sleet or snow. Some of the water infiltrates into the ground and replenish, aquifers (saturated subsurface rock), which store huge amounts of freshwater for long periods of time. How can you save water? 1. It is the movement of water that the sun heats up in rivers, lakes, or ocean? 2. If people perspire, then the plants also what? 3. It is the movement of water that when the clouds get heavy and water falls back to the Earth in the form of rain, hail, sleet or snow. 4. What is water cycle? 2pts. After a plastic bag is wrapped around part of a plant, the inside of the bag becomes misty with transpired water vapor. Credit: Ming Kei College, Hong Kong
