Jack has worked at one of the large DIY stores of a national chain for seven years since leaving school. He has worked his way up from a stock assistant to a checkout operator, then to a warehouse operative and finally to the warehouse supervisor. Jack has now gained a place on the company’s management training scheme. Jack’s line manager congratulated Jack in person but also told him he would receive a confirmation letter in the post. 1.
