Leadership Action Plan Exercise To help boost your confidence and self-esteem, develop a “Leadership Action Plan” of items you plan to accomplish in a file folder or notebook. The actionable items can include specific job tasks, new leadership skills, and/or major work goals for yourself, the team you lead, and your department. A sample form is found on this page. Leadership Action Plan Date: Action Item: Plan to Complete It: Positive Feedback: At the end of each day or week, write down things you did well. You might, for example, note how you handled a difficult situation that left everyone satisfied, what you did to prepare for and manage an effective team meeting, or how you handled problem-solving with a guest or team situation. Be sure to note when you received praise from your own leaders, peers, team, or guests for a job well done. You can use your “Leadership Action Plan” to help yourself work through new problems by drawing on your past experience. And you can use the record to track your personal and professional development. Date: Action Item: Plan to Complete It: Positive Feedback: ©2016 American Hotel & Lodging Educational Institute
