In developing your assignment you will need to clearly articulate your philosophy about effective

The philosophy should be an expression of your beliefs; therefore, the style and presentation is
necessarily individual. Your philosophy will need to be broad enough to cover a wide range of topics.
You must address all the following points under the headings given, stating what you believe for each. It
is essential that you support your philosophical beliefs with research, cited references and/or specific
personal experience examples.

a. The nature/needs of young people
b. The role of the teacher.
2. Behaviour Management

b. The complexity and range of student behaviour
c. The outcome, intention or purpose of discipline
d. The level of teacher control and/or coercion and a students’ ability to manage their own

b. The conditions necessary for learning to occur
c. What instructional strategies best respond to your view of young people and how they

1.2 Theory
(≈1000 words)
Your theory section analyses two or three classroom management theories that align with and enhance
and inform your beliefs about classroom management. You will need to reference 2 - 3 classroom
management theorists in this theory section and each theorist must be consistent with each other and
with your beliefs. The theorists selected or the elements of theorists need to support your philosophy
and core assumptions. You must explore the key elements of each theory showing clear links to your
own beliefs and to each other.
