Create Your Own Meme
Week 3 Assignment
To add some fun and creativity to your online learning experience you will be
creating some memes. The meme will review what you have covered in Weeks
1 and 2, and allow you another way to show your understanding of the topics.
Learning Objectives:
 Interpret figures of speech (e.g. verbal irony, puns) in context.
 Analyze how differences in the points of view of the characters and the
audience or reader create such effects as suspense or humor.
 Analyze a case in which grasping a point of view requires distinguishing
what is directly stated in a text from what is really meant.
 Read closely to determine what the text says explicitly and to make
logical inferences from it.
 Make strategic use of digital media and visual displays of data to express
information and enhance understanding of presentation.
You will be graded on:
★ Creativity (Clever and creative)
★ Clarity of Theme (well chosen topic)
★ Use of your own photo

Week 3 Assignment
Task:
Create your own meme to depict the understanding of your topics over the past two weeks.
➔ You will create 3 memes. Choose one for each category.
◆ English topics to choose from
● Short Stories we covered (The Medicine Bag or Scarlatina)
● Character description
● Setting description
● Theme of our short stories.
◆ Social Studies topics to choose from
● American Revolution
● Any of the acts (eg. Stamp Act)
● Loyalists or Patriots
● Taxes
◆ Online Learning (you can submit the same one to Ms. Elize and me or create two
different ones)
● Using Teams
● Using Zoom
● Teacher/Student communication
● Handing in assignments
● Learning alone at home
● Organizing your time
● School closure until end of June.

Communicate your meme with humor and wit.
● Your meme is meant to be funny on the surface, but it must also
portray your understanding of the seriousness of the topic/theme.
Make it relatable.
● Ensure it is a topic that your teacher and other students will be
able to relate to.
Look at other memes for inspiration, but make sure it is YOUR OWN
creation.
It MUST be school appropriate. Use images and language that you
would use in your classroom with your teacher.
Use a clear image and Font that is big enough to read but does not cover
your image.
Be culturally sensitive.
