We are dabbling in areas of STEM that are associated with the Digital Revolution. Our articles will showcase the many adventures, inventions and activities surrounding STEM in the Caribbean. However, my first set of articles will explain STEAM within their specific subject areas. Now let’s begin with Science, the driver of ideas, research and development. Science triggers thoughts of white lab coats, and test tubes troubleshooting the world around us to discover the underlying secrets of natural processes. These processes are then copied using various scientific processes for use within our civilization. But what is Science? Science is the study of the nature and behavior of natural things and the knowledge that we obtain about them. It incorporates biology, physics and chemistry as its foundation but branches into more advanced areas such as quantum physics. Science stimulates interest. Science explains the world around us and the universe that encapsulate the world from the past to the present going into the future. The Digital Revolution. Science plays an important part in the design and discoveries of the Digital Revolution. From the development of 5G to the development of artificial leaves. Science never stops. We are discovering more today than ever before due to our investments in science. But there is so much more to learn and discover. Our oceans, galaxy, energy source and medicines are all areas awaiting more exploration Science is a global human endeavor. People all over the world participate in the process of science.
