Friday 7/2/2020 Habitats and Organisms LI- Understanding organisms, habitats and animal adaptations. SC- By the end of the lesson, I will be able to: Explain what a habitat is, and the requirements needed for an organism to survive. Identify adaptations in animals and how this assists them in their habitats. SUMMARY; Habitat requirements The needs of living things can be divided into two types: 1. Biotic factors: these are living factors that include partners for mating, organisms to eat, and organisms that may compete with for food and shelter 2. Abiotic factors: these are non-living factors that include water, light, wind, soil and temperature The number of organisms of the same type, living in the same habitat, will vary over time depending on the availability of food, water, living space and mating partners. Adaptations are characteristics that assist organisms to survive and reproduce. To survive in their habitat, organisms have adaptations. Adaptations help organisms to get food and water, protect themselves, build homes and reproduce. Friday 7/2/2020 Habitats and Organisms LI- Understanding organisms, habitats and animal adaptations.
