Reforms Web Quest Activity Directions: In pairs [of 2], you will create web quests over TWO of the following reform movements (education, prison, anti-slavery, or women’s rights). The TWO reform movements in which you will create your web quests over will be assigned to you. Use the example web quest that you completed for HW this week over the TEMPERANCE REFORM MOVEMENT as a guide (though you are NOT required to follow it verbatim). - Each pair will have ONE day (Monday) to complete the reform movement web quests; on the SECOND day of this activity (Tuesday), you will complete a peer’s activity over the 2 reform movements NOT assigned to you. - The multiple choice questions created for EACH activity WILL BE USED on a QUIZ at the end of the week over the various reform movements. - Each reform web quest MUST include the following (again, refer to the example completed for HW this week): 3 sections 1 activity per section (i.e., body biography, political cartoon, etc.) – INCLUDE WEBSITES on activity At least 1 website per section (from provided list – do NOT deviate from websites given) 5 multiple choice questions to reflect information learned about the reform movement or reformers (from the activity) [5 per reform movement = 10 total] Websites to use for each reform: - Education Reform Websites: http://www.suite101.com/content/education-reforms-in-early-19th-centuryamerican-history-a262031 http://www.pbs.org/onlyateacher/horace.html http://usinfo.org/docs/democracy/16.htm (don’t need to read entire report) http://www.theusaonline.com/history/expansion.htm (scroll down to the section titled, “Social Reform” and read about 1800s education reform) - - Penitentiary Movement Websites: www.easternstate.org http://www.history.com/topics/dorothea-lynde-dix http://www.ushistory.org/us/26d.asp Abolition/Anti-Slavery Reform Websites: http://www.digitalhistory.uh.edu/database/article_display.cfm?HHID=45 View also the section titled, “The impact of the Revolution on Slavery” and “Immediate Abolition” http://www.cr.nps.gov/nr/travel/underground/routes.htm View the page titled, “Operating the UGRR” bottom of page for navigation - http://americanabolitionist.liberalarts.iupui.edu/brief.htm http://www.ushistory.org/us/28a.asp (William Lloyd Garrison) Women’s Rights Movement Websites: http://lcweb2.loc.gov/cgibin/ampage?collId=rbnawsa&fileName=n7548/rbnawsan7548.db&recNum=1&itemLi nk=r?ammem/naw:@field(DOCID+@lit(rbnawsan7548div2)):%23n7548002&linkTex t=1 http://www.legacy98.org/move-hist.html http://www.ushistory.org/us/26c.asp http://www.rochester.edu/SBA/suffragehistory.html (use this site for biographical info as well) http://www.history.com/topics/elizabeth-cady-stanton http://www.history.com/topics/lucretia-mott http://www.history.com/topics/sojourner-truth Select ONE Women’s Rights reformer [and the accompanying website] to create an activity.
