XYLOPHONE
• The xylophone comes from
the Greek word ‘xylon’
meaning “wood’ and
‘phone’ meaning “voice”.It
is a musical instrument in
the percussion family which
probably originated in
Indonesia.It consists of
wooden bars of various
lengths that are struck
by plastic,wooden,or
rubber mallets.
GLOCKENSPIEL
• The Glockenspiel (German
for ‘set of bells’)is a
metal,portable melodic
percussion instrument.It is
similar to that of a
xylophone but produces a
high-pitched bell-like sound.
A Glockenspiel is a
percussion instrument
composed of a set of tuned
keys arranged in the fashion
of the keyboard of a piano.
Marimba
• The marimba is a deeptoned instrument of an
African origin.It is a variety
of the xylophone producing
a mellower sound.The keys
are arranged as those of a
piano. The marimba is a
percussion instrument
consisting of a set of
wooden bars struck with
mallets to produce musical
tones.
Vibraphone
• The vibraphone is
similar in appearance
to the xylophone and
marimba,although the
vibraphone uses
aluminum bars instead
of the wooden bars.The
vibraphone also has a
sustain pedal similar to
that used on a piano.it
is often featured in jazz
groups.
Celesta
• The celesta , a kind of
glockenspiel that is
operated by means of a
keyboard resembles the
miniature upright piano.
The celesta or celeste is a
struck idiophone operated
by a keyboard. It looks
similar to an upright
piano, albeit with smaller
keys and a much smaller
sized cabinet, or a large
wooden music box
Tubular bells
• The tubular bells are set
of metal tubes hung on
a frame and struck with
a mallet producing a
church bell. The original
tubular bells were made
to duplicate the sound
of church bells within an
ensemble.
Snare drum

percussion instrument that
do not produce a definite
pitch that is called indefinite
pitch. Snare drum is a small
cylindrical drum with two
heads stretched.A snare
drum or side drum is a
percussion instrument that
produces a sharp staccato
sound when the head is
