Introduction :
The main objective of the project is to develop a GSM/CDMA based energy meter reading
system and load control through SMS. Electricity department sends employees to take meter
reading every month, which is an expensive and time consuming job. The proposed project
provides a convenient and efficient method to avoid this problem. The electricity department
and the user can get the readings of the energy meter of consumers via SMS. The loads can also
be controlled by the user of this system via SMS using this project. A microcontroller input is
effectively inter faced to a digital energy meter that takes the reading from the energy meter
and displays the same on an LCD. The reading of the energy meter is also sent to the control
room by an SMS via SIM loaded GSM/CDMA modem. This GSM/CDMA modem can also receive
commands from the cell phone to control the owner’s electrical loads. It uses a standard digital
energy meter that delivers output pulses to the microcontroller to perform counting for
necessary action. On receiving command it can switch ON/OFF the loads.
There are many advantages in Smart energy meter project by using GSM/CDMA System .
From those advantages We mention the following :
1-Its high performance and the data transfer rate high.
2-Its coverage area is great.
3-Safe because it can only be accessed by the person Commissioner.
4-Provide monitoring and control of the remote electric meter.
5- Reading the consumed energy with high accuracy and reduce the percentage of errors in
invoices.
6-Equality in laws so that the current is automatically cut on any a consumer does not pay the
bill regardless of his or her social status.
7- The separation and return of electricity is controlled by remote control.
8-There is no loss of electrical power because separation of current And return it automatically
using an electronic device and not cut off Wire manually. There will be no human casualties.
9-This system makes the consumer pays bills without delay, which helps the Electricity
Corporation to obtain financial benefits without any delay
