TWO PLACES YOU HAVE VISITed There are so many nice places on the earth. They are scattered across the country. Every place has its own distinct features. Even though my sister always invites me to visit Taiwan, but I more prefer to have a tour inside our country. The visits which have a lasting impression in my mind are the visit of Pangkor Island and the visit of Penang Island. These are the most beautiful place I have ever seen. During the semester holiday at last year, at home were quite in the dumps because was nothing to do and was also bored to death. Out of the blue, my parents decided to have a family trip to the Pangkor Island in Perak. We left our car at the car parks in Marina Island Pangkor, and we took a 15 minutes ferry ride to Pangkor town. After we reached jetty, we took a pink minivan taxi to our resort at Pasir Bogak. At here, motorcycle are the main transportation because the motorcycle could easily move through the narrow street and some mountain path. On the way to resort we had passed through the quaint town and along the coast lined with coconut groves. The resort we stayed was centrally situated and it commanded a beautiful view of mountains. After we registered in the resort, we put our luggage there and changed clothes preparing to go out. We started our journey with the first place that was Dutch Fort at Teluk Gedung. The built of Dutch Fort was the mark in history left by the Dutch in an attempt to control the tin trading around the area of Perak. Next, we moved on to Kali Amman Temple which is the largest and the only Indian temple. Its special at the entrance of shrine was facing the sea. At the same place, there also had a Chinese temple called Fu Lin Kong. The unique of Fu Lin Kong was there had a mini Great Wall of China built beside the temple and also had many alcoves and ponds around. I already took a lot of picture with my family members at there. After finished lunch, we had continued our journey to Sungai Pinang Fishing Villages. There had local industry to process sea food either drying them or selling them as dried squid, anchovies or processing them into crackers or fish satay. Besides, Sungai Pinang Besar village had a Traditional Boat Building, all the fishing boat were built or repaired at there. We had already visited the hand crafted fishing boat building with amazing skills. Get the information from the taxi driver, we knew Pangkor Island was a mountainous island with a paved ring road circumventing the island. Therefore, the minivan taxi started to drive along the mountains path to the Teluk Nipah. Teluk Nipah had a serene golden beach, crystalline green water, cool refreshing breezes and it was perfect for snorkelling, swimming, scuba-diving, parasailing, boating and canoeing. We were surprise of its amazing natural scenery such like a heaven. We could see the bottom of the water but the water still had a green hue to it. I could see the little fish swimming around perfectly and there was no too much to speak of wave wise, which was how I like this beach. The sand at there was also perfect for building sand castles and it was nice and soft to the touch. In addition, it was a race joy of life to see the breath-taking sunset at Teluk Nipah. Usually people missed them but I thought that it had a very beautiful scene. I think Pangkor Island remained as a heaven for those who seek to get away from the hustle and bustle of city life. After dinner, we had took a walk at beach that near our resort. We hoped we could find out that the “Blue Sand”. Someone told us we had to dig the sand only then could find out the blue sand. Finally, heaven did not disappointed the person who tries, we had seen that the beautiful tiny blue sand. In the next day before catching the returned ferry, we had a look around Pangkor town basically one street town called the main street. Here had a quaint coffee shops, souvenir shops and sea products shop. My mother took the opportunity to stock up with a supply of dried fish, dried shrimps, dried anchovies, dried pre-packed fish and many of seafood. Altogether, it was the best holiday I had last year. The second place I had visited was Penang Island. After SPM result had been taken, I began to prepare entering the life as a college student. Before the college life begins, my friends invited me to join them went for a trip. I knew we will take different roads and urge the horses on if continue to studies either at university or college or entered the society. It will be difficult for us to have a met again. As a result, I decided to join them and had a short trip to Penang Island. Included me, all of us were six person in a car. The driver which was my friend Hui Tian, actually all of us no one knew how to go Penang therefore the GPS had become our savior. On the way to Penang, all of us were busy to talk and eat. We had drove through the Penang Second Bridge because we were curious about the difference between Penang First Bridge and Penang Second Bridge. The “S”-like curves shape of the Penang Second Bridge made us wonder about it. The first destination of us was the Queensbay Mall, it was one of the most hyper malls in Penang. Being the largest and longest shopping mall in Penang, we had found many of foreign brand shop that were difficult to be seen in other shopping mall. We also spent time to have a delightful lunch at there. We continued our trip to go Ayer Itam to visit Kek Lok Si and Penang Hill. Kek Lok Si was located at the foot of the Ayer Itam Mountain in George Town, it was facing the sea and commanding an impressive view. Besides, it was also a largest Buddhist temple in South-East Asia. We took the “Inline Lift”, an elevated box sized lift mounted on rail up to the mountain. That place really made us be much surprised when saw the reconstruction of the huge bronze statue of the Greatly Compassionate & Sagely Kuan Yin Avalokitesvara. We had also visited another widely known spot which is Wan Fo Pau Ta. We continued to go the Penang Hill which was near to the Kek Lok Si. It was the last patch of tropical rainforest in Penang so the flora and fauna here had been protected. The whole of Penang had we view when getting on the cable car up to Penang Hill. At the Penang Hill, not only the plants were fresh, the tiny bird park also situated at there with cheerful singing and the colourful dashes of the playful birds. Besides, there had some gardens, tea kiosk, food court, souvenir stalls, a police station, a post office, a mosque, and a Hindu temple for visitors to visit. Penang Street Art is also the place that famous in Penang. It starting at Muntri Street and ending at Weld Quay. After we had parking our car, we began to start our “arts hunt”. We had rent the bicycle because it can easily to move through some small street and shortens the trip. The sunlight is blinding. In addition, we were well and truly lost but we were lucky enough to meet some helpful and friendly local people who had gave us maps while we were in the mode of hunting for these arts. Through the map, finally we had find the first art-Little Children on a Bicycle. After that, the more of art had been found by us. I hope we had no missed out some of these art. At night, we had a dinner at Penang Road. Actually I thought this Penang Street as a Party Street, along the Penang Street had many type of stalls, cultural shows, live music performance and visual art displays. We also took a chance go inside the Komtar Penang which is also at Penang Road. The second of the day we had wake up early prepared to go the Escape Theme Park at Batu Ferringhi. We enjoyed the games and we had a wonderful time. After it, we had to move on to the beach of Batu Ferringhi. Batu Feringhi consists of a long stretch of soft and white sandy beach. The boys had enjoyed the action pack water sport activities such as windsurfing, parasailing and sailing instead the girls had shopping along the varieties of stalls and shops. I no join with them because I had rent a bicycle to visited fruits plantation and enjoy the breath-taking scenery. We stay at there until evening left. We straight away go to Gurney Drive which is a food heaven. When we had our delicious food, we can also listened to the crashing of wave. Georgetown is definitely the best place to enjoyed good and delicious food. Based on that, our luggage already had full the trunk of my friend car, it can be say to return from a rewarding journey. We had been bought a lot of traditional food in Penang such like the Heong Pneah, Tau Sar Pneah and many. Altogether, it was the best trip I had with my friends. The Penang Island is truly an interesting place in Malaysia and luckily I had join them to have this pleasant trip. Visiting this certain places were the most interesting and exciting vacation in my life. It gives me the reasons to think and to know what it is all about. Sometimes it is the way where I can appreciate a certain place. Tourism can let us know about its history and culture. I enjoyed every moment in the tour. The visits and the experience, anything and everything regarding the event will be vivid in my heart because the visits are interesting and informative for me as well as all my family members. I can never forget that much of pleasure throughout my life and the journey had remained sweet memory in my life.
