Considering the fact that the performance of the learners depends on how the learning competencies have been acquired and done in the given time bound. However, even the content standard and performances obtain a very satisfactory rate after end of every quarter; the challenge will still be there to move towards the higher level. This is education, the continuing process of learning. Housekeeping is introduced as additional strand under the TVL track of Home Economics. The Personal Development is a Core Subject while Community Engagement and Philippine Politics and Governance are both major subjects under Humanities and Social Science Strand of Academics Track. Sudden power interruption while doing some ICT Integration in the lessons 2. Lack of Housekeeping tools and Equipment/Supplies and Materials for practical application. 3. Unpredictable weather condition that caused delay of implementation in the field practicum for Community Engagement activity. ACTION TAKEN/INTERVENTION The following are the solutions done in order to address the aforementioned problems encountered: 1. Rescheduling of ICT Integration and Utilization and get advance notice of scheduled power interruption. 2. Use available cleaning tools ( from SHS TVL supplies) as alternative. 3. Utilize alternative activity to be done inside the school community with the same program. RECOMMENDATIONS : The following are the recommendations for the improvement of the learners’ academic performance in terms of MPS: 1. Always make use of Plan A and B in ICT integration and may request to have additional DLP. 2. Make request to SHS MOOE for the Housekeeping tools and equipment, supplies and materials. Provided a room as avenue for actual training on housekeeping. 3. Provide financial assistance as travel expenses for Community Engagement Activity outside the school. Submitted by GEMMA V. Nakar, Quezon Narrative Report on Third Quarter MEAN, MPS and SD in Technology and Livelihood Education Grade 8 INTRODUCTION Teaching is a very noble profession that shapes the character, calibre, and future of an individual (A. P. J. Abdul Kalam). This is one of the common quotations we hear today that makes us determined, hopeful and confident as teacher. Hence, we did our best just to teach and nurture the young minds of this present generation, the millennial learners. The Department of Education particularly the Division Office set a standard of 60% in terms of Mean Percentage Score (MPS) to assure that our students receive quality education. Fortunately, there are three sections in G8 who got an MPS greater than the set standard by the Division. The remaining two sections got a little lower but remain higher the average than the 60% target. Since there is only one quarter left for the present school year, the Grade 8 teacher in TLE aims 5% additional increase in the MPS of third quarter so that all classes in Grade 8 will reach the Division standard. The teacher believes that this will be attained by intensifying the use of technology in teaching such as laptop, LCD projector (if available), and other innovative techniques in assessing and evaluating the learners’ performance. One example in administering formative test is that the teacher will always prepare five-item HOTS questions. These questions will be compiled in individual folder. During periodical test, the teacher will just pick at questions from their folder to be included in the test. Limited resources/materials in TLE subject 2. Absenteeism and cutting classes 3. Less retention of the learners on the subject matter ACTION TAKEN/INTERVENTION The following are the solutions done by the teachers in order to address to aforementioned problems encountered: 1. Provide materials for the learners’ activity such as photocopy of the lesson, browsing from the internet 2. One-on-one conference with the learners after class 3. Use of Individual Folder containing HOTS questions given as formative assessment RECOMMENDATIONS The following are the recommendations for the improvement of the learners’ academic performance in terms of MPS: 1. Provision of Teacher’s Guide and Learner’s Module in TLE 2. Conduct one-on-one conference with the learners after class 3.
