Different hotel departments
Hotels can provide good service when it’s all departments work together in an
effective way. Each department is equally important for the functioning of the hotels , And we
will talk about four of those departments, Those departments are; Front office department,
Food and beverage department, Accounting department, Human resource department.
Front office department; It is one of the major departments in hotels. The main
function of the department is to maintain the room records for reservation, To collect the room
charges for various services used by guest during her/ his stay at the hotel. And to handle the
phone calls and the booking tasks; They also handle the guest check in and check out.
Food and beverage department; It is also one of the major departments in hotels. It is
responsible for maintaining high quality of food and service, costing, managing restaurants,
bars, etc. The main function of the departments is to provide food and beverage facilities to the
guest and to provide it for groups, conferences, meeting, and parties.
Accounting department; It is responsible for recording and reporting the cash. This
department has some key roles and responsibilities; Including accounts receivable, accounts
payable, payroll, financial reporting and maintaining finical control. The purpose of the
department is helping to ensure the ongoing health of the business.
Human resource is responsible for the hiring, firing, training and development of hotel
staff. The main function of this department is recruitment and selection of employee for hotel
as per requirement, training and development of employee. Maintenance of personal file for
each employee with all details and maintenance of attendance records, leave records, etc.
In short, Hotels departments are various and important to provide good service
because each department has it’s specific function to be performed and managed. Front office
and food and beverage departments are major departments which is called (operational
departments). While account and human recourse departments are called (administrative
departments).
