features, which can vary as follows:
f
A SEET consists o
of 3 cards in which each of the cards’ features, lo
ooked at one
e‐by‐one, are
e the same on
o each card
d, or,
are different on each card. All
A of the feaatures must separately satisfy this ru
ule. In other words: shap
pe must be either
the same on all 3 cards, or different
d
on eeach of the 3 cards; colo
or must be eiither the sam
me on all 3 caards, or diffeerent
on each
e
of the 3,
3 etc. See EX
XAMPLES below.
A QU
UICK CHECK ‐ Is it a SET??
If 2 cards are the same and 1 card is diffferent in an
ny feature, th
hen it is not a SET. For example,
e
if 2 are red and
d 1 is
purp
ple then it is not a SET. A SET must bee either all th
he same OR all different in each indivvidual featurre.
EASY
Y START
For a quick intro
oduction, start with the small

THE PLAY
The dealer shufffles the cards and lays 12
2 face up on the table (in
n a rectanglee) so that the
ey can be seen by all. Plaayers
remove SETs of 3 cards from
m anywhere on the tablee. Each SET is
i checked by the other players. If co
orrect, the SET
S is
keptt by the playyer for one point and th
he dealer rep
places the 3 cards with 3 from the deck. A playyer must call SET
befo
ore picking up the cards. There are no turns, the first player to
t call SET geets control off the board. After he/shee has
calle
ed SET, no other player can
c pick up cards until that player has finished. The SET must be picked
d up within a few
seco
onds after caalling it. If a player
p
calls SET
S and doess not have one,
o
or if the SET is incorrrect, he/shee loses one point,
p
and the 3 cards are returned
d to the tablee. If all playeers agree thaat there is no
ot a SET in th
he 12 cards, 3 more cards are
laid face up on tthe table. Th
he 3 cards are not replaced when thee next SET is found, redu
ucing the num
mber back to
o 12.
Note
e: There are ~ 33:1 odds that a SET iss present in 12
1 cards, and
d ~ 2500:1 odds when 15
5 cards are on
o the table.
The play continu
ues until the deck is depleted. At the end of the game
g
there may
m be cards remaining that do not form
a SEET. The numb
ber of SETs held by each player is theen counted. One
O point is given for eacch SET. High score wins.
If yo
ou want a lo
onger game, the deal passses to the person
p
on th
he dealer’s left, and the play resumes with the deck
bein
ng reshuffled
d. When all th
he players haave dealt, th
he game endss. The playerr with the higghest overall score wins..
Whe
