11. If your conclusion did not support, or agree with your hypothesis, you may need to
………………………………………………………, and create ………………………………………………….. to test it.
12. The scientific method is a ………………………………………………… way to solve problems and answer
questions ……………………………………..
ACTIVITY #2 – Scientific Method Practice
CK-12 – Scientific Investigations
ACTIVITY #3 – Scientific Method Scenarios
In this activity, students work in groups to develop an experiment that answers the assigned question.
Each group gets a different question which can be printed and cut into strips to give randomly. Students do
not actually conduct their experiments, due to equipment and time constraints. Optionally, the teacher
may choose one to conduct as a class demonstration, like the question about whether aspirin will keep cut
flowers fresh.
1. Design an experiment that would answer your experimental question.
a. Establish a hypothesis AND a null hypothesis.
b. Identify the dependent and independent variables (may not apply to all).
c. Propose ways to eliminate confirmation bias.
d. Show a chart or graph that would depict what your data would look like.
e. Be ready to share your experiment with the class.
ANSWER SHEET AND INSTRUCTIONS
ACTIVITY #1 – VIDEO TIME!
Complete the sentences.
1. Scientific method is a way to ask and answer scientific questions by making observations and doing
experiments.
2. Ask a question or identify the problem.
3. Make observations.
4. Do research about your topic.
5. Form a hypothesis.
6. Hypothesis is an educated guess (IPOTESI PLAUSIBILE) about what will happen.
7. In order to be useful, a hypothesis needs to be testable.
8. Design an experiment and test your hypothesis.
9. Once you have completed your experiment, analyse your data.
10. Finally, using your data, you can draw a conclusion.
11. If your conclusion did not support, or agree with your hypothesis, you may need to form a new
hypothesis, and create a new experiment to test it.
12. The scientific method is a step by step way to solve problems and answer questions logically.
