With HPC Pack, you can create and manage HPC clusters consisting of dedicated on-premises compute nodes, part-time servers, workstation computers, and on-demand compute resources that are deployed in Microsoft Azure. The steps in this guide will help you to deploy a new on-premises cluster using the latest version of HPC Pack 2016: HPC Pack 2016 Update 3. To learn about late-breaking issues and other important information about HPC Pack 2016 Update 3, review the release notes. 7 Catatan HPC Pack 2016 introduces a new feature that HPC Pack can be installed on a computer that is not domain-joined. This new feature is designed for HPC clusters in Azure. For an on-premises HPC cluster, we strongly recommend that you create the cluster in an Active Directory domain. This guide assumes you are creating the cluster in an Active Directory domain. Checklist: Deploy an HPC cluster The following checklist describes the overall process of designing and deploying an onpremises HPC cluster. Each task in the checklist is described in detail in a linked section. Step 2: Deploy the head node (or nodes) Deploy the head node by installing Windows Server and HPC Pack. Step 3: Configure the cluster Configure the cluster by following the steps in the Deployment To-do List in HPC Cluster Manager Step 4: Add Windows nodes to the cluster Add on-premises nodes to the cluster by deploying them from bare metal, by importing an XML file, or by manually configuring them. Step 5: Add Linux Add on-premises Linux compute nodes to the cluster by manually nodes to the cluster configuring them.
