EXPERIENCES IN SHAPE OUTDOOR MANDALA A mandala (circular) design done on a great big scale will brighten up any driveway! You'll need sidewalk chalk, a plastic jug of water and a piece of yarn or rope! A mandala is a circular design that consists of intricate shape patterns within rings of concentric circles. To make concentric circles we used a jug filled with water (for weight) and a dowel rod with a pieces of yarn tied to it. Tie a piece of chalk to one end of the rope and use it as a make shift, giant compass to draw your circle. You can use one long piece of rope. Tie the chalk, draw your circle, and untie it without cutting. Draw a circle or two and fill each circle with a pattern before continuing on. This will prevent your artist from having to sit or stand on something he or she already drew. These designs get big fast! This would be a great project to work on collaboratively.
