Chemistry: Research a Chemical Day
In the computer lab, research and record the following in Google Docs or Slides
and share it with Ms. Moreau:
1. Pick an interesting chemical (compound or molecule)
a. Include its chemical name and common name (if it has one)
b. Examples: glucose (simple sugar), polyethylene (plastic)
2. Find and include an image of the chemical
3. Record its molecular formula
4. Find an image of its Lewis structure (or draw it!)
5. Discuss some of the uses of this chemical (more than just one)
6. List a physical and a chemical property of the chemical
7. Find a fun fact about the chemical
8. Calculate the total molar mass of the chemical*
9. Calculate the percentage composition of the chemical*
*Moreau needs to see your work for both of these. You cannot just Google it. J
Point of Caution: Make sure to use reliable sources. Confirm the information
you find on two or more credible websites. Cite them!
