Occupational Health risks among the workers in Marble industry Aamir, Md Background: Being the fastest growing major economy in the world with a vast population, India, has 90% of workforce is engaged in the informal sector. Rajasthan is on the top in the country in terms of marble production. Due to boom in construction industry, marble is in high demand. Besides, due to water scarcity and high dependency on monsoon in Rajasthan, people choose the mining and its allied industries for their livelihood. As these workers are from informal sector as well as low social strata. Thus, these workers perform their duties in poor and unsafe working conditions and exposed them to various hazards resulting from the inhalation of air borne particulates and the use of machines/equipment and these poses a lot of danger to their health and safety. In India, there is still paucity of literature on occupational hazards among the marble industry workers. The current study is aimed at filling this vital gap in the current knowledge. Objective: To assess the Occupational Health risks among the marble workers. Method and Material: A descriptive, cross sectional study will be carried out among the marble workers in Kishangarh mandi, Ajmer. Respondents will be selected using multi-stage sampling technique. A structured, interviewer-administered questionnaire would be used to collect data from the respondents. The data will be analysed using SPSS version 20.
