Course Description
This unit explores the origins of religion and its role in the development of society, identifying the nature and purpose of
religion over time. It investigates the contribution of religion generally to the development of human society. It also focus
on the role of religious traditions over time. The unit examines how individuals, groups and new ideas have affected
and continue to affect religious traditions. It also provides an opportunity for students to understand the often complex
relationships that exist between individuals, groups, new ideas and religious traditions broadly and in the Australian
society in which they live.

Course Description
This unit provides students with the opportunity to consider their personal skills, interests, values and personal qualities
in an attempt to link these with future career options. In Semester One of Careers, students come to understand the
importance of self-awareness in making career decisions, explore a variety of career tools and resources and learn
about occupations of interest. They are also introduced to 'The High Five Principles' of career development to aid their
understanding of career-focussed thinking and behaviour. All of this is aimed to support students to make informed and
confident subject selection choices for their VCE as well as consider potential work experience placements they may
be interested in organising for their Work Experience Placement later this year.

The focus of this unit is developing reading and writing skills through the close study of texts. Students experiment with

This semester length unit of History will cover key world events and their impact on Australia from 1918 until the
present. Topics covered include: the inter-war years 1918-1939 covering the impact of the Great Depression,
Communism and the rise of Fascism; a study of World War II covering the growth of the Nazis in Germany and
Japanese military expansion in Asia, the causes of World War II, Australia's military role in the Pacific; the study of
Rights and Freedoms from 1945 until the present the background to indigenous rights and the Stolen Generations;
Political Crises from 1945 with a focus on the Vietnam War.

Course Description
Introduction to Outdoor Education aims to develop an understanding of the way in which humans understand and
relate with nature. Different understandings of nature, the motivations for interacting with natural environments and the
factors which affect access to outdoor experiences are explored. This study also aims to develop skills appropriate for
the minimal impact on and safe participation in the outdoor environment.

In Year 10 Science Combined, students covered fundamental basics in the areas of Chemistry, Physics and Biology,
with a heavy focus on hands-on and visual learning experiences. In Chemistry, students were introduced to the periodic
table, atomic structure and chemical reactions. In Physics, calculations of speed and acceleration were investigated,
whilst linking to Newton's Laws. In Biology, the structure of DNA and the inheritance of genes was explored.
