Find out the pressure of each animal
1. Count how many 1 cm2 large each foot is (if the foot is in more than 50%
of the square count it if it takes up less than 50% don’t count it)
2. Find the weight in N
3. Multiple the area of the foot by the number of feet the animal has
4. Divide the weight by the total area of the animal to calculate the animals
pressure in Pascals (N/cm2)
5. Ext: why do some animals have larger or smaller pressures (think of
adaptations topic in biology)
 Skunk: 80N
 Deer: 500N
 Small dog or fox: 200N
 Large dog: 300N
 House cat 80N
 Raccon: 100N
