Procedure
WARNING: To prevent personal injury and /
or death, read all safety instructions in the “Safety
Information” section of the Engine Service Manual
or Engine Diagnostic Manual.
REMOVAL
NOTE: If vehicle you are working on has custom
programmable parameters, save a template of
all parameters before programming so custom
programmable parameters can be reset after
programing.
WARNING: To prevent property damage,
personal injury, and / or death, park vehicle on
a hard, flat surface, turn engine off, set parking
brake, and install wheel chocks to prevent vehicle
from moving in either direction.
1. Bring vehicle into shop and park on flat surface.
2. Shift transmission to Park or Neutral, set parking
brake, and install wheel chocks.
WARNING: To prevent personal injury and /
or death, make sure the engine has cooled before
removing components.
3. Remove bumper from vehicle.
4. Remove hood from vehicle.
5. Remove air cleaner assembly.
WARNING: To prevent property damage,
personal injury, and /or death, remove ground
cable from negative terminal of main battery
before disconnecting or connecting electrical
components. Always connect ground cable last.
NOTE: Reposition A/C condensor; do not remove.
6. Remove cooling module / package, refer
to appropriate service manual for specific
procedures.
WARNING: To prevent personal injury and /
or death, keep flames or sparks away from vehicle
and do not smoke while servicing the vehicle’s
batteries. Batteries expel explosive gases.
WARNING: To prevent personal injury and /
or death, always wear safe eye protection when
performing vehicle maintenance.
CAUTION: To prevent engine / component
damage, ensure the kit-supplied rivet style plug
is correctly installed into the oil galley. If not
installed correctly, a low and / or no oil pressure
condition could occur causing severe damage to
various major engine components.
