social studies mindset.
I will read the aim and
learning target aloud
especially for my SPED
and ELL.
Mini
Lesson:
(5 min)
I will remind the students that we are creating all these summaries
because they are going to write an essay that will explain what
they believe were the events that pushed the colonies to fight for
their independence from Great Britain.
I will explain that students will complete their summaries. They
need 3 summaries about the political events leading up to the
revolution and 3 summaries on their responses.
Guided
Practice:
(5 min)
Class Work:
(20 min)
I will also explain that students who have completed all 6
summaries should reflect and rewrite their summaries for higher
scores.
I will then remind students of the summary requirement by
reviewing the rubric.
CFU:
1. What are we doing today?
2. Why?
3. Any questions?
Students will work for 20 minutes to complete their class work.
Students work in their
heterogeneously assigned
group. Groups are based on
a combination of reading
score, ability to meet social
studies standards, and
behavioral patterns.
While students are
completing their classwork,
I will be conferencing with
students to review already
submitted summaries.
Close:
(5 min)
To close, I will explain that students could use stronger and
clearer every time to help them write stronger responses.
