grammar
- is grammatical analysis and instruction designed for
second-language students (Nordquist, 2019).
- a modern approach in linguistics intended to aid in
teaching an additional language (Wikipedia, n.d.).
- a grammar developed for learners of a foreign
language … (Newby, 2008).
- a grammatical description of a language which is
intended for pedagogical purposes, such as language
teaching, syllabus design, or the preparation of teaching
materials. (Longman Dictionary, 2002).
- A term in LANGUAGE TEACHING and applied
linguistics for a book or set of books designed to help
learners of a foreign or second language, or for a way of
presenting GRAMMAR that is intended to help
students (Concise Oxford, n.d.)
- is a description of a given language which has been
created with the intention of enabling a defined set of
learners to learn that language ( Towell, n.d.).
- denotes the types of grammatical analysis and
instruction designed for the needs of second language
users (Odlin, 1994)
- a cover form for any learner or teacher oriented
description or presentation of foreign language rule
complexes with the aim of promoting and guiding
learning in the acquisition of that language (Dirven,
1990).

grammatical construction

Native speaker: If he comes early, we

Filipino learner: If he will come early,

The innate mental structures which a native speaker
has of his language which guides his actual use of
the language and enables him to sense “what sounds
correct” and “what seems wrong” even if he cannot
explain why.

The approach used is consciousness raising to
make the second language learner realize what
the native speaker knows instinctively.

One such rule is that which pertains to the
prepositional phrase.

preposition followed by a noun phrase which may in
turn be followed by any number of other
prepositional phrases.
