Dr. Pervaiz Iqbal Cell: 0332-9217218 E: pervaiziqbal@yahoo.com pvza_mb@hotmail.com Respected Registrar/Chairman/HOD I am sending my CV/application for your advertised post. I am PhD in Marine Biology from University of Karachi and recently served as Assistant Professor (one year) in Dept. of Zoology, University of Poonch Rawalakot, Azad Kashmir, Pakistan under Interim Placement of Fresh PhDs Programme (IPFP-HEC) during which I gained the following professional expertise in teaching and research activities: Advances in Aquaculture to M.Phil Mammalogy (theory + lab) to MSc Zoogeography (theory + lab) to MSc Environmental Biology (theory + lab) to MSc &BS Hons. Biological Techniques (theory + lab) to MSc & BS Hons. Ecology (theory + lab) to BS Hons. Research on Ichthyofauna in streams of District Poonch, AJ&K with M.Phil student My PhD is about the distribution and diversity of 415 animals inhabiting beach and coastal environments of Pakistan including the morphometric studies of Cetacean’s (whales, dolphins and porpoises) skeletons, review and identification of molluscs, seasonal pattern of sediment dwelling macrofauna of sandy beaches along Sindh coast and sediment grain size analyses. My publications include research on diversity and distribution of mammals, zooplanktons, fossilized corals, mangroves litter fall, skeletal morphometry and first records of whales and dolphins. As Research Officer (two years) in Cetacean Conservation Project, Pakistan (funded by DARWIN INNITIATIVE, UK organised by University Marine Biological Station Millport, England and Centre of Excellence in Marine Biology, University of Karachi, Pakistan) I worked on the diversity, distribution, habitat, behaviour, external and osteological (bones and skeletons) morphometric studies of marine cetaceans, phytoplanktons and zooplanktons concentration, pollutants in marine waters and hydrological parameters etc. I gained substantial training from UK and USA scientists working in Pakistan and conducted community research surveys, systematic research surveys conduction, working as a team leader and member, recording and handling data for pollution, birds and other marine species (turtle, snakes etc.), managing and analysing data retrieved from beach, marine and estuarine ecosystems. I worked as Research Associate (9 months; at Center of Excellence in Marine Biology), as Marine Mammal Observer (in marine seismic survey; inshore and offshore waters off Oman) through Five Oceans LLC, Oman and as Scientist for a short term consultancy with Pakistan Wetland Project, Pakistan. My volunteer activities include research team leader (with young PhD research students of Centre of Excellence in Marine Biology, University of Karachi) for conducting marine surveys for mammals, zooplankton and phytoplankton in inshore areas (for a period of two year) along Karachi coast. More recently I have started research on fish fauna of streams of Poonch district AJ&K with one of my M.Phil student at University of Poonch Rawalakot. My future research objectives are to assess the status and feasibilities of aquaculture with the conservation of endangered fish, molluscs, epi and infauna, mammals, biodiversity associated with latitudinal gradients, interaction of organisms with their environment, skeletal remains/fossils and establishment of biotope mapping. I am seeking an opportunity that will provide me a suitable platform to perform research and teaching objectives. I request your good self to have a kind look on my CV. I am hopeful for your kind consideration. Thanking in anticipation and best regards
