The Google Earth Engine is a relatively new website that, using satellite images from the last thirty-two years, presents a time lapse sequence of the world.

1. Pick one place from Google Earth Engine and describe what you see, making note of any changes.

Answer: - I want to pick Dubai city of United Arab Emirates from the Google Earth

Engine. In 1984 Dubai had only sand on his land. It is not developed that much. After decade I see there was normal change in Dubai. In 2002 Dubai start developing I see in time-lapse, they start constructing of palm on the beach. After 6 years they also construct man-made island on the beach as well as they construct Burj al Arab on the beach. In 2016 Dubai became totally developed city. Between 2006 to 2016 Dubai grows very fast.

Answer: - In 1984 Alberta was full of trees and its like a forest. There was some constructed area in Alberta in 1984. After decade Alberta is developing and their I see much area started developing. In 2000 Alberta was start expanding. In 2010 it increases much area in comparison of 1984. In 2016 Alberta is look like a developed state of

Canada.

3. In the search bar that is within the Google Earth Engine video window (not your browser’s search bar), look up your hometown and describe what you see. What changes do you see and what are they the result of? If you don’t see any changes, why is that the case? Remember to include the name of your hometown in your response.

Answer: - My hometown name is Ahmedabad city which is in Gujarat state of India. In

1984 Ahmedabad is not developed city. There are not proper roads and not proper construction on sides of river. As I see in time-lapse in 1984 there was much land instead of building. After 10 year I saw there was not much developed. In 2004 I saw proper constructed roads and proper river. Also, I saw a lake which is very famous in my hometown. In 2016 there is no place where I found empty land so in 2016 my town is developing town.

4. Reflecting on the usefulness of technology (Google Earth Engine) in helping one to identify environmental issues, as well as the environmental problems technology causes, explain whether or not you think technology is part of the problem or part of the solution when it comes to environmental degradation. If you don’t think the answer is cut and dry, explain in what ways technology might be good and in what ways it may be bad for the environment.

Answer: - From my point of view, Google Earth Engine is very useful tool to identify the environmental issues like deforestation. I think technology is a part of solution to environment. For example, Google Earth Engine is very useful to the scientist to identify what major changes done on earth in some year and also do their studies. Now a days by technology we can converts slaty water of ocean into pure and drinkable water.

There are lots of another examples which says that technology is a solution for environment.
