The power of “Oh Well” The dictionary says…. You say oh well to indicate that you accept a situation or that someone else should accept it, even though you or they are not very happy about it, because it is not too bad and cannot be changed. When is ‘Oh well’ useful? Oh well can help you to accept and get over a situation that you are not happy about but cannot be changed or is not important enough to bother changing. Oh well is used as a replacement to whinging and whining. Oh well can be used to take the pressure out of a situation where there is nothing that can be done eg. missing a goal in a sporting situation When is ‘Oh well’ not useful? When something can be done about the situation: Instead of saying ‘Oh well,’ work out what needs to be done and do it! When the situation is particularly bad! What are some situations where you can use ‘Oh well’ You spilt milk You missed a goal You lost/damaged your favourite toy Got a dirty shirt Not being able to achieve a certain mission in games Accidentally deleted something Getting nutmegs and being embarrassed Getting kicked in the face by a ball Dropping a mark while being tackled When Dr. Who is not good Forget to bring something to school Now you try it! 1.
