How much albuterol do you need? 1. 45 mg 2. How many vials is that (or CC if bottle) 1. 45/2.5mg (or 45/5x2) • How much solution are we adding? – Unit dose = vials x 3 (18 x 3)= 54 cc – Concentrate= vials x .5 (18 x .5)= 9 cc • What is total amount of solution needed to run for given time – Output of neb x hours it will run (20 x 3= 60cc) • How mcuh saline do we add to run for given time? (total output- albuterol solution) – Unit dose= 60- 54= 6 cc saline – Concentrate= 60 – 9= 51 cc saline • 20 mg per hour for 4 hours, neb output is 25 ml per hour • 20mg x 4= 80 mg total = 32 vials (80/2.5) • Unit dose= 32x3= 96 cc of solution • Concentrate= 32x.5= 16 cc of solution • Total output for 4 hours= 100 ml • 100-96= 4 cc saline • 100-16= 84 cc saline
