Its Raro Time!
Story
We have stopped at an island, on our way to New Zealand. Some of our friends are there too
and there is going to be a party this afternoon. We are in charge of bringing drinks. Its much
lighter to bring sachets of Raro rather than bottles of premade drink in our waka. All we need to
do is find some water and make up our Raro solution.
It was really hot on the way here so we used up some of the sachets at the last island we visited.
Unfortunately, we have used up all of the sachets with the ratio instructions on it. It has been so
hot that we have completely forgotten how much used to make the tastiest Raro solution.
We don’t want to bring Raro that is too weak, or too strong! So we’ll have to test what is the
right amount of Raro and water!
Aim:
To figure out the best ratio of water to raro powder, also known as the concentration.

2 Bottles for mixing
Water
Raro sachets
1 piece of paper to make funnel
Permanent marker
Instructions:
1. Work out how many sachets you will need to collect for your two bottles.
2. Collect the equipment
3. Label each bottle with the relevant numbers and letters from the previous page. (E.g.
1A, 2A, 2B, 1C etc.)
4. Take the lid off the bottle.
5. Curl the paper to make a funnel (teacher will demonstrate).
6. Using the funnel, carefully pour the correct number of raro sachets into the bottle.
7. Fill the bottle with the decided amount of water.
8. Put the cap back on tightly and then shake the bottle until the raro is all mixed in.
