Background (Inception)
● Founded 1907 in Seattle, by James Casey & Claude Ryan.
● Originally called the American Messenger Company.
● First delivery vehicle was the Model-T Ford
● Merged with competitor to create Merchants Parcel Delivery
● 1919 - expanded to Oakland and re-named to United Parcel Service.
● 1922 - company introduced common carrier service.
