Manila city.
Manila zoo first opened in 1959. It has been in operation for 59 years and has not been renovated since. In
2013, Manila Mayor Joseph Estrada indicated this as one of his agenda, but the renovation/rehabilitation
did not take place. Your goal is to evaluate the overall conditions of the zoo and to propose a rehabilitation
plan based on the observations made. The rehabilitation plan will be proposed and presented, via a
multimedia presentation to the city mayor for his review and approval. The success of the task will be
based on the accuracy of your plan with respect to the needs of the animals in the zoo, the overall layout
of your proposal, as well as the quality of your presentation and written proposal.
GOAL
To prepare a proposal that will help rehabilitate the “Manila Zoological and
Botanical Garden”
ROLE
Architect, Veterinarian, Zoo keeper and Engineer
AUDIENCE
City Government, Students, Teachers, Animal Rights Advocates, Investors,
visitors, tourists
SITUATION
You studied “RA 8485: The Animal Welfare Act of the Philippines” and
decided to personally find out the current condition of the animals in the
Manila Zoological and Botanical Garden. You want to convince the
stakeholders (audiences) that there is a need for the zoo to completely
undergo rehabilitation.
PERFORMANCE/PRODUCT Come up with a comprehensive proposal on how to rehabilitate the Manila
