The structure of a usual dream is similar to that of a drama, comprised of four different
stages:
1. “Exposition” –
the first scene,
introduction of the place and time,
characters and situations the dreamer will have to face
the initial situation that points to the central conflict expressed in a dream (the issue or
problem is expressed metaphorically, using the language of images).
2. “Development” –
the actual plot.

Or the peripeteia: a sudden or unexpected reversal of circumstances or situation,
especially in a literary work
A dream ending is considered to be the most important stage. It shows if the dreamer is
able to cope with the problem or issue that was expressed in the exposition. In fact, the
task of a dream is to find the solution for the dreamer.
