Submit completed illness script on Brightspace by 9am on the day of tutorial session. Pre-session Learning Objectives 1. List 5 hypotheses (differential diagnoses) common causes of sore throat (please include at least one non-infectious cause of sore throat) (CO.9) (USMLE A.10, B.12, B.19, G.5, I.4, I.10) 2. For the pharyngitis, use the illness script posted on Brightspace as a guide and fill in the required knowledge fields for each. (CO.2-10, CO.15) (USMLE A.10, B.12, B.19, G.5, I.4, I.10, P.2, P.4) a. Exam findings that would be expected for each cause (i.e. febrile/afebrile, exudate / no exudate, rash, lymphadenopathy, other) c. Methods for diagnosing each (i.e. laboratory tests) d. Pathophysiology (mechanism) of what causes the illness and symptoms e. Recommended treatment f. Potential complications Session Learning Objectives 1. Develop relevant learning issues based on self-identified learning gaps uncovered during PBL/tutorial sessions. (CO.12) 2. Critically evaluate sources of information, including ID-specific resources, and determine whether the findings can be applied to the PBL/tutorial case. (CO.15) (USMLE P.2, P.15, Q.1) 3.
