2. Getting Started

2.1 Unified Communications Licensing Overview

2.1.1 Cisco User Licensing

From Cisco Unified Communications Release 9.0 and later, applications are licensed from the perspective of an end user. This model is distinct from earlier releases, where features were licensed by device. The following sections introduce the two available licensing types: Cisco User Connect Licensing and Cisco Unified Workspace

Licensing, which may be mixed within a system deployment as required.

2.1.2 Cisco User Connect Licensing

Cisco User Connect Licensing (UCL allows most Cisco Unified Communications products to be licensed on a peruser basis. With UCL, all client and server software, right-to-use (RTU) fees, port licenses, etc., are covered by the per-user license, simplifying the ordering and deployment process for an on-premises solution.

UCL is available with the following licenses:

● Essential UCL: This license enables use of an analog telephone adaptor (ATA) port or simple IP phone for shared working areas. Instant messaging and presence features are also included where devices are assigned to a specific user.

● Basic UCL: This license is suitable for desk-based users who require a voice-centric communications solution using an entry-level IP phone. It includes voice, instant messaging and presence features.

● Enhanced UCL: This license offers a richer collaborative experience for either desk-based or mobile users who require a single device. It includes voice, video, instant messaging and presence features.

© 2014 Cisco and/or its affiliates. All rights reserved. This document is Cisco Public Information. Page 4 of 15

● Enhanced Plus UCL: This license offers a richer collaborative experience for desk-based and mobile users who require two devices. It includes voice, video, instant messaging and presence features.

● TelePresence Room: This license enables any Cisco room-based telepresence system.

● Voice Messaging (voicemail): This license enables voice messaging features for one user with Cisco Unity

®

Connection. It includes advanced message access options (Internet Message Access Protocol [IMAP], unified messaging, phone, and web) and voice-recognition features.

2.1.3 Cisco Unified Workspace Licensing

Cisco Unified Workspace Licensing (UWL) offers an easy and affordable way to procure and deploy a broad range of Cisco Unified Communications applications and services using per-user licensing.

For more details about UWL, please visit: www.cisco.com/web/partners/downloads/partner/WWChannels/technology/ipc/downloads/finalcopy.pdf

.

2.2.2 Product Warranty

The Business Edition 7000 is sold as part of the Cisco Collaboration portfolio and as such is subject to Cisco Basic

Warranty Terms. In particular, the Business Edition 7000 server is subject to the Cisco 90-Day Limited Hardware

Warranty. Extended warranty terms that apply to generic Cisco Unified Computing System™ (Cisco UCS) products do not apply. For further details, refer to: www.cisco.com/go/warranty .

2.2.3 Cisco Unified Communications Software Subscription

To complement ESW Support, Cisco Unified Communications Software Subscriptions (UCSS) provide access to major software version upgrades. To purchase UCSS, a subscription must be ordered for every installed user license or application. In turn, each subscription requires a valid ESW contract for activation. Although ESW contracts may be renewed annually within a multiyear software subscription, it is strongly recommended that UCSS and ESW be sold with congruent terms.

When ordering UWL, a minimum 3-year UCSS subscription must be purchased for every user license (UCL and

UWL) in a deployment. One-year agreements are available for government and education customers subject to applicable laws regarding multiyear contracts.

A UCSS subscription is also required on the included virtualization software to have access to future minor and major versions of virtualization software.

For new systems, use Cisco Commerce Workspace (CCW) to order electronic delivery software subscriptions and support using the part numbers illustrated throughout this guide or in either the UCL or UWL ordering guides.

When renewing cover or adding additional licenses to an existing deployment, Cisco Support Contract Center

(SCC) should be used to quote for and assign services. In particular, SCC allows the purchase of prorated contract terms for new components to ensure the convenient co-termination of cover for the entire solution. For more information, refer to the guides posted at: www.cisco.com/go/ucssrenewals .

For additional guidance on ordering software support and subscription packages, refer to the following: www.cisco.com/en/US/partner/prod/collateral/voicesw/ps6882/ps9158/us_uc_sw_ordering_tips_qrg.pdf

3. Ordering Cisco Business Edition 7000 Solutions

3.1 Ordering Overview

3.1.1 New Systems

Business Edition 7000 is now available for order using a simple three-step process ( Figure 2 ):

Figure 2. Ordering a New Cisco Business Edition 7000 System

Step 1. Order server bundle(s).

Each Business Edition 7000 order consists of one or more server bundles that have been pre-loaded with

software as described in section 3.2

, ready for installation. The server bundle has no configurable options

other than its power cable and virtualization software entitlements, allowing distributors to hold stock for immediate delivery.

Step 2. Order software licenses (sold separately).

See the ordering guide for Cisco Unified Workspace Licensing (UWL) and Cisco User Connect Licensing

(UCL) for Collaboration applications at www.cisco.com/web/partners/sell/technology/ipc/uc_tech_readiness.html.

Step 3. Add software subscriptions and hardware/software support services.

Business Edition 7000 server hardware is supported by Cisco SMARTnet

®

.

Included virtualization software license is supported by its own Cisco Essential Operate Support

(ESW), and requires its own Cisco Unified Communications Software Subscription (UCSS) for access to minor and major versions. Other virtualization software options are sold separately.

Application and user licenses (sold separately) are supported by their own ESW. In addition,

UCSS is recommended to keep applications up-to-date. Refer to section 2.2

for more

information. When purchasing ESW and UCSS, cover must be purchased for all licenses.

3.1.2 Upgrades and Migrations

If migrating from Cisco Business Edition 3000, 5000 or 6000, refer to the Cisco Business Edition 6000 ordering guide for correct migration procedures and SKUs: www.cisco.com/web/partners/sell/technology/ipc/uc_tech_readiness.html

Otherwise, application and user licenses are sold separately from Business Edition 7000. Follow UCL and UWL procedures to upgrade early versions (e.g., from 9.1 to 10.5), or to migrate from one license type to another (e.g., from UCL to UWL, or from UCL/UWL to a more advanced license entitlement, see section 2.1 for options).

For virtualization software:

Version upgrades (minor or major) to the included virtualization software license require UCSS (see section 3.2 for specific part numbers to use).

© 2014 Cisco and/or its affiliates. All rights reserved. This document is Cisco Public Information. Page 8 of 15

Changing the virtualization software to a different license edition or OEM option is allowed (see section

3.3 for additional details).

Business Edition 7000 hardware bundles do not include application licensing, so may be ordered when migrating from an older non-Business Edition branded solution with an active UCSS contract on application licensing that allows license transfer at no cost.

Note:

For deployments that require high availability, order two or more server bundles. For deployments that require higher scaleout, order multiple server bundles as “modular, building blocks”. See quoting examples in section 3.5.

Note:

Business Edition 7000 server is supplied with two power supplies as standard.

Step 2. Order software licenses.

Application and user licenses are sold separately from Business Edition 7000. The preloaded application suite on a Business Edition 7000 server bundle ships with a particular set of versions. When ordering user and/or application software, remember to select the software license version top-level part number that matches what is shipped. See the ordering guide for UWL-and UCL for Collaboration applications at : www.cisco.com/web/partners/sell/technology/ipc/uc_tech_readiness.html

Business Edition 7000 server bundles automatically ship with included Cisco Unified Communications Virtualization

Hypervisor virtualization software (VMW-VS5-HYP-K9). If you want to use this included license, select quantity 1 from option VIRT SW ENTITLEMENTS. If a different / more powerful license edition is desired (such as to enable integration with VMware vCenter or Cisco Prime Collaboration Deployment), do NOT select from option VIRT SW

ENTITLEMENTS and see section 3.5.

Step 3. Add software subscriptions and hardware/software support services.

For support service on the hardware of the Business Edition 7000:

1. Find the server bundle part number from Table 3 (and see Notes under the table)

2. Choose either the approved Cisco SMARTnet support with the required service level, or an equivalent partner- branded product support offer for the hardware server bundle

For support service and upgrade entitlement on the virtualization software of the Business Edition 7000:

1.

If you are using the included license for “Cisco UC Virtualization Hypervisor” (VMW-VS-HYP5-K9), then attach ESW and UCSS to the part number VMW-VS5-HYP-USEL that was auto-included by selecting the

VIRT SW ENTITLEMENTS option. ESW is required for TAC support on the virtualization software. Both

ESW and UCSS are required for Cisco Product Upgrade Tool (PUT) access to any version upgrade on the virtualization software.

Note: ESW and UCSS on Collaboration application/user licenses are NOT SUFFICIENT .

Note: Quantity of ESW and UCSS for must match quantity of hosts (which will be same as quantity of VMW-VS5-HYP-K9), not the quantity of users.

© 2014 Cisco and/or its affiliates. All rights reserved. This document is Cisco Public Information. Page 10 of 15

2. If you are substituting a different virtualization license (sold separately), then see the ordering guides listed below for those licenses required.

E.g. Cisco UC Virtualization Foundation requires its own ESW and UCSS (ESW for Cisco TAC, and ESW+UCSS for PUT access to version upgrades).

E.g. VMware vSphere ESXi Standard/Enterprise/Enterprise Plus Editions purchased from Cisco require ISV1.

For comparison of different license options including restrictions, see: i. http://docwiki.cisco.com/wiki/Unified_Communications_VMware_Requirements#Purcha sing_.2F_Sourcing_Options_for_Required_Virtualization_Software

Note:

A 3-year UCSS with ESW must be ordered for all user licenses when upgrading to UWL.

3.4.2 Cisco Unified Communications Software Version Upgrades

With a valid UCSS subscription, Cisco Unified Communications software major version upgrades are available for no additional charge through PUT ( tools.cisco.com/gct/Upgrade/jsp/index.jsp

). Otherwise see the UCL and UWL ordering guides for ordering procedures to upgrade software versions of user and application software, including available promotions or incentives if any.

3.4.3 Virtualization Software Upgrades

Business Edition 7000 ships with basic virtualization software called Cisco UC Virtualization Hypervisor. It is suitable for most deployments, but if the server must be managed as part of a data center using VMware vCenter, or VMware APIs are required (such as to integrate with Cisco Prime Collaboration Deployment), the default license must be upgraded to the Cisco Unified Communications Virtualization Foundation license. To order this license

upgrade, use the top-level product code listed in Table 5. If the deployment needs more advanced virtualization

features such as vMotion, vSphere High Availability (HA), Site Recovery Manager (SRM), etc., then please consult

Cisco’s data center ordering guides or VMware Purchase Advisor on vmware.com. There are no “edition upgrades” it is always a repurchase of the new license.

Note: Both the Virtualization Hypervisor and Foundation licenses are embedded, meaning that they may only be used with permitted Cisco Unified Communications and partner applications running on Cisco UCS server platforms. These licenses do not permit the use of any other applications in virtual machines, nor may they be used to virtualize other host platforms. For more details see http://docwiki.cisco.com/wiki/Unified_Communications_VMware_Requirements#Purchasing_.2F_Sourcing_Optio

ns_for_Required_Virtualization_Software .

For version upgrades of Cisco UC Virtualization Hypervisor or Cisco UC Virtualization Foundation, ESW and UCSS are required on these licenses (see Step 3 in section 3.1.2, or Table 6 below), and the upgraded media/license may be obtained from the PUT ( tools.cisco.com/gct/Upgrade/jsp/index.jsp

). Version upgrades for other licenses require VMware Upgrade Center on vmware.com.

3.5 Migration to Business Edition 7000 and User Licensing

See the partner community at https://communities.cisco.com/community/partner/collaboration/uc/servers?view=all#/ for questions on how to migrate to Business Edition 7000 from any of the following Cisco Unified Communications solutions:

© 2014 Cisco and/or its affiliates. All rights reserved. This document is Cisco Public Information. Page 14 of 15

● Cisco Unified Communications Manager (UCM) Version 8.6 or older

● Cisco Business Edition 6000 (BE6000) Version 9.0 or older

● Cisco Business Edition 5000 (BE5000)

● Cisco Business Edition 3000 (BE 3000)

● Cisco Unified Communications Manager Express (CME)

● Cisco Unified Communications 500 (UC500)

In general, the software license migration procedures will be the same as if migrating to UCM. The hardware will not be re-usable as BE7000 uses different server hardware from these other offers.
