CHATHAM'S OPEN GOVERNMENT
I.
Chatham county has an open government policy, meaning it is
modeled for improving the public services and increasing citizen
engagement through greater transparency, collaboration and
participations.
II. Records are open to the citizens upon request.
SOME CHATHAM COUNTY LAWS
I.
Smoking in the bed: It shall be unlawful for any person to smoke or attempt
to smoke or to light or attempt to light a cigarette, cigar, pipe or tobacco of
any form, or to strike a match or light a fluid lighter, while lying upon or
sitting upon any bed within the corporate limits of the city.
II. Bonfires: It shall be unlawful to collect, accumulate or assemble any
flammable material of any kind for the purposes of a bonfire of any
magnitude, large or small; and it shall be unlawful to light, burn, execute, or
maintain a bonfire within the corporate limits of the city.
CHATHAM COUNTY COURTS
I.
Chatham county has 6 different courts. Like the nations highest court
the Supreme court, Chatham county’s superior court is the highest
court of the county.
II. one of four constitutional offices found in each county.
CHATHAM’S TAX LEVY
I.
Chatham county residents who reside within Savannah's city limits
are required to pay both county and city property taxes per
Georgia law. ... The City of Savannah receives a tax file from
Chatham County twice a year before each of the tax billings for the
year.

I.
Like the National government Chatham is also a judicial system.
II.
We also have the Bored of Commissioners for Chatham county. They can
make policies, adopts laws, sets budget limits, set tax rates and hear
cases. Sort of like the Legislative, executive and judicial branches.
III. State government refers to the government offices, elected officials,
bureaucrats, laws and government services that exist at the state
level in each of the 50 states in the United States while local
government refers to governments that cover smaller jurisdictions
below the state level, including county and city government.
IV. For example, a state's governor serves at the state level of
government while an individual town's mayor or city council is part
of the local level of government.
V. National gov’t controls funding for education but the county controls
the actual education department within the city
