Bachelor’s Degrees Granted Report Degrees Earned 2014‐15 February 2016 The Minnesota Private College Council annually reports degrees earned by students attending a Minnesota college or university. This report focuses on bachelor degrees earned by sector. Special focus is given to the proportion of degrees earned by race, detail of all degrees earned from Minnesota institutions, the share contributed by MPCC members and an analysis of STEM degrees earned in Minnesota. The analysis compares completions for first majors only. Here are key highlights: Total Bachelor’s Degrees Earned In Minnesota, 33,747 individuals earned bachelor’s degrees in 2014‐15. Minnesota Private College Council (MPCC) member institutions awarded 30% of all bachelor’s degrees in the state. o This is compared to 32% by MnSCU 4‐Year institutions and 31% for the University of Minnesota. While MPCC members awarded 30% of bachelor’s degrees, degrees awarded in physical sciences, history, foreign languages, English, biology, social science, health professions and math were awarded in greater proportion. Bachelor’s Degrees Earned by Students of Color Of 5,023 bachelor’s degrees earned by domestic students of color, 30% were earned from MPCC members compared to 32% from the University of Minnesota and 31% from MnSCU 4‐Year institutions. Students of color accounted for 16% of bachelor’s degrees earned from MPCC members compared to 17% of those earned from the University of Minnesota and 15% from MnSCU 4‐Year institutions.
