[Chassis-shaped Switch] S9700 Switch Quick Ordering Guide Product Overview Huawei S9700 series terabit routing switches (S9700 for short) are high-end switches designed for next-generation campus networks and data centers to provide service aggregation. Based on Huawei Versatile Routing Platform (VRP), the S9700 provides high Layer 2/Layer 3 switching capabilities and integrates diversified services such as MPLS VPN, hardware IPv6, desktop cloud, video conferencing, and wireless access. In addition, the S9700 provides a variety of reliability technologies including in-service software upgrade, non-stop forwarding, hardware OAM/BFD, and ring network protection. These technologies improve customers' network efficiency and maximize the normal operation time, which reduce customers' total cost of ownership (TCO). Huawei S9700 series include S9703, S9706, and S9712. As can be inserted new X1E cards that ENP chip inside, S9700 series switches can be upgrade to agile switches. Configuration Guide To configure the S9700, perform the required operations in order: select the chassis, main processing unit (MPU), and power module -> select service cards -> select special service cards -> select software and license -> select electrical and optical modules -> select stack cables -> meet other requirements -> select auxiliary materials. 1. To configure fibers for a non-BIDI optical module, each optical interface must be configured with a Tx optical fiber and an Rx optical fiber of the same type. To configure fibers for a BIDI optical module, configure only one optical fiber. If single-mode optical modules are used, configure single-mode fibers. If multimode optical modules are used, configure multimode fibers. You can select fibers of different lengths. Huawei provides fibers of 10 m, 20 m, and 30 m. 2. Select network cables. Configure each network cable with two RJ45 connectors (part number 14080082). The length of network cables is determined based on user requirements. The price grows for every 1 m increase in length. In addition, the network cable (part number 25050014) is sold with the connectors. 3. Select power cables. External cables used for assemble chassis (desk installation) No cabinet is used.
