Product description
The AntPro has a fully-shielded, milled and gold-plated metal housing with an SMA (Sub Miniature version A,
m/f) respectively RSMA (Reverse SMA, r/m) miniature connector system. The build-in, rare-gas-filled surge
arrester (GDT) establishes the coarse protection against lightning impact. The surge impedance is 50 Ω.
Due to the minimum self-capacitance of < 1.5 pF of the integrated, special coaxial GDT an excellent highfrequency characteristic up to 6 GHz is guaranteed.
RSMA connectors have a reversed polarity with the inner conductor of the standard cable connector being a jack
instead a plug. Those connectors are common practice in WLAN applications. RSMA models have a screw
coupling. They are resistant to vibrations and suited for frequencies up to 6 GHz.
Connectors of the family SMA and RSMA feature a mating face sealing between plug and jack according to
IP 68. The spark-over voltage is designed as low as possible and lies between 150 V and 250 V.
The functional efficiency of the integrated GDT may drop after suffering several very high lightning-impulse
currents, that even may occur in a short period of time. Therefore it is recommended to periodically check the
functional efficiency of the GDT. LEUTRON’s mobile, digital measuring instrument H35 (87 00 10) is best suited
to carry out these tests.
Application
The AntPro 5.8GHz-SMA is designed for the lightning protection of aerials of supersensitive, electronic highfrequency amplifiers. However, it is appropriate for all 50 Ω aerial systems from 0 to 6 GHz with SMA coaxial
connectors. SMA connectors are used, for example, in mobile telephone systems and satellites as well as in
measuring technology. Depending from the model SMA connectors are applicable up to 18 GHz.
The RSMA model with reversed polarity is designed for WLAN applications up to 6 GHz (typical 5.8 GHz).
