TM Solid Phenolic Work Surfaces The Right Choice for Today’s Laboratories What is TM RESISTOP Solid Phenolic work surfaces were developed for laboratory use as well as other harsh chemical environments. RESISTOP is made in the U.S.A. , for more than 15 years and has emerged as a leading Solid Phenolic brand that offers both Quality and Value. RESISTOP is a Laboratory Grade solid Phenolic core, high pressure composite panel. Specifically designed for wet laboratory environments and engineered to provide maximum chemical and stain resistant characteristics. RESISTOP can also be used in other tough conditioned environments such as biology, physics labs, water treatment plants, R&D facilities, etc. Phenolic? Since chemical and wear resistance are the criteria desired in a laboratory grade work top, RESISTOP is the laboratory product preferred and specified for the last 15 years by architects, designers, end users and distributors worldwide. RESISTOP is a superior quality homogenous HPL exceeding the industry's requirement for a rigid, durable, stable, self-supporting flat work surface. The Advantages of R Chemical and solvent resistant R Stain and corrosion resistant R Impact and stress cracking resistant R Abrasion resistant in quartz finish R Moisture resistant and will not support growth of common bacteria or fungus R Double sided panels available in many colors and patterns TM R Exceeds performance standards of the ANSI/NEMA (American National Standards Institute / National Electrical Manufacturers Association) LD3-2000 R UL Class A and Class 1 Fire Rating Surface available upon request. R LEED qualified utilizing up to 20% recycled paper and cardboard to support a green environment. R Low VOC’s emissions 1 How is TM Made? RESISTOP Chemical and Stain-Resistant Solid Phenolic Core Laboratory Grade Compact Laminate panels are a special category of decorative panels engineered to resist a wide variety of staining from acids, solvents, general reagents and cleaning agents. RESISTOP is LEED Qualified and Green Guard certified. Decorative Sheet High Pressure Compact Laminates Overlay Paper Pattern Paper Kraft Paper Decorative Sheet Transparent Overlay Built-Up Multi-Layer Core to Required Thickness Transparent Overlay RESISTOP is a high-pressure solid composite panel, made from natural kraft paper and engineered as laboratory grade surfaces commonly exposed to acids, solvents, general reagents and cleaning agents. The natural kraft papers or recycled papers are saturated / impregnated with phenolic resin and processed under high heat and pressure to form a composite panel. The resultant panel provides a chemical and abrasion resistant property required for harsh conditions in wet laboratories of science labs, water treatment plants, etc. Produced in North America at an ISO Certified facility, Resistop is also rated as a “anti-static protective material” by the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM D257-78) and is primarily suitable for laboratory work surfaces, fume hood decks, Fume hood liner panels, pegboards (drying racks), reagent racks, commercial countertops, cabinet drawer fronts, locker drawers, shelving, window sills, toilet partitions, and decorative casework components. Resistop panels are a uniform low-sheen matte textured finished surface, extremely hard and durable and resistant to scratches and abrasion, while providing exceptional chemical and stain resistance with the flexibility and design advantage attributed to Thick, Solid Phenolic Cores. RESISTOP is manufactured utilizing Phenol Formaldehyde resins (Phenolic Resins) rather than Urea Formaldehyde. Phenol Formaldehyde resins produce less free formaldehyde and thereby reduce the level of airborne contaminants in indoor air environments. Insist upon Phenolic Resin based composite panels for counter top applications. 2 GreenGuard Certification RESISTOP is GreenGuard Certified. The Greenguard Environmental Institute certification for high-pressure decorative laminate should be implemented where practicable with respect to Greenguard Indoor Air Quality Certification. To receive Greenguard certification, a product must pass the institute's stringent chemical emission tests and conform to its strict standards. The Greenguard certification assures professionals and users alike that solid phenolic core products will not add harmful contaminants to the indoor air. RESISTOP is manufactured utilizing Phenol Formaldehyde resins (Phenolic Resins) rather than Urea Formaldehyde. Phenol Formaldehyde resins produce less free formaldehyde and thereby reduce the level of airborne contaminants in indoor air environments. Insist upon Phenolic Resin based composite panels for countertop applications. Resistop sheets contain a minimum of 20% recovered materials by weight and only use certified renewable forest products. They contain no heavy metals, rain forest timbers or tropical hardwoods. Greenguard certified low-emission surfacing makes for a healthier environment in any setting: commercial, residential, hospitality or healthcare, K-12 schools for furniture products. Resistop laminate or solid phenolic can be used as a surface on Greenguard-certified office or school furniture to obtain a LEED-CI credit for Low Emitting Office Furniture (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Rating System for Commercial Interiors). 3 Why Should TM be Specified? a Chemical and solvent resistant a Stain and corrosion resistant a Impact and stress cracking resistant a Abrasion resistant in quartz finish a Moisture resistant and will not support growth of common bacteria or fungus a Exceptional metric or imperial sizes, with a wide range of thickness options a Double sided panels available in 250+ solid colors or select patterns and wood grains a Meets or exceeds performance standards of the American National Standards Institute / National Electrical Manufacturers Assn. Fair: unacceptable staining or discernable deterioration or etching the surface material. Failure: severe stain or moderate deterioration, pitting, cratering or etching of surface material. CARE AND MAINTENANCE NOTE A regular schedule of maintenance is the most effective means to prolong the surface life of lab grade work surfaces. Chemical spills should be cleaned immediately to prevent or greatly reduce the effects caused by long exposure of chemicals left on the surface. RESISTOP surfaces should be cleaned with warm water, non-detergent soap or with liquid glass polish. Rinse with clean water and wipe dry with a clean cloth. The use of any abrasive cleanser should be avoided. We reserve the right to disclaim any responsibility for surface damage resulting from tradesmen or failure of the end user to provide regular care and maintenance. 8 B.3. ANTIBACTERIAL RESISTANCE RESISTOP also showed complete disinfecting capability, for a period of 24 hour testing, against the test group E.Coli DSM 787 and ST.Aureus DSM 346 with all disinfecting agents of Ethanol 70%, Formalin 5%, P-Chloro-M-Cresol 0.3%, Tosylchloramid 5%, B.A.C. 0.1%, Buraton and Betaisodona. Test Procedures: The testing report issued by SGS, an US authoritative testing company, showed RESISTOP exhibits great and inherent antibacterial property. The test was conducted in accordance with the procedures outlined in ASTM G-22-76 (Reapproved 1990), “Determining Resistance of Synthetic Polymeric Materials to Bacteria.” The procedures consists of the following steps: P Selection of suitable specimens for determination of pertinent properties P Inoculation of specimens with suitable organisms P Exposure of inoculated specimens under optimum conditions for growth P Examination of visual growth P Cleanup, sterilization and evaluation of specimens.
