With the continual advancement of technology and rapid increase in system
capabilities, it is difficult to stay current with software functionality that may
have a tremendous impact on the efficiency and profitability of your business.

The Epicor Learning Management System (LMS) allows customers to more
effectively deliver, track, and manage their company’s educational and training
needs from one central location. The LMS features the Learning Center, a Web
site hosted by Epicor that is unique to your organization. The Learning Center
is used to access course material, view training assignments, and report on
educational progress and test scores.

The LMS is a subscription-based service that provides unlimited access to
educational courseware, so your employees can take courses as many times as
they want, whether they’re learning a new topic or re-familiarizing themselves
with existing functionality. Courses available with your LMS subscription include
On-Demand courses that are self-paced and can be accessed over the Internet
at any time, and Web-based Training courses that allow for questions of a live
instructor. The majority of On-Demand courses include interactive software
simulations, which promote better knowledge retention. In addition to audio
narration, students can access simultaneous narrative text to help accommodate
different learning styles.
At the end of software simulation lessons, users can choose if they wish to
continue with the instruction or attempt to practice what they’ve just learned. A
short comprehensive quiz is available to test users’ knowledge and determine if
they need to retake a section of the course. Based on user feedback from past
training courses, the LMS contains shorter topics–most lessons can be completed
in less than 20 minutes, so the material is easier to digest and you can get back
to work sooner with your newfound knowledge.
Because the course files are hosted online, Epicor is better able to update
educational content with new software releases, so courseware is always current
with the latest product updates. At the same time, individual distributor’s
administrators have the ability to customize the Learning Center by restricting
courses to certain groups of employees. If one branch of the business operates
differently than another, you can restrict which branch has access to which
courses so there is no confusion about company processes.

Tests
The LMS allows your company to uncover employee
knowledge deficits by deploying either pre-canned
tests on available course material or customized tests
on the specific tasks that your employees perform.
Best of all, tests are not limited to the Epicor
application. Perhaps you would like to gauge
your employees’ ability to troubleshoot service
issues or their knowledge of your product lines.
Your company may add its own questions to the
Learning Center for inclusion on tests.
When test results are in, administrators may view
individual results or aggregate scores across the
entire organization.
Reporting and Analysis
If you can’t measure it, you can’t manage it.
Deploying training and tests is only one part of a
successful equation; administrators must also be
able to track and report on student progress so they
can better address educational needs within the
organization. The LMS provides access to employee
transcripts with records of courses taken, test
scores, and accomplishments. At any given time,
administrators have complete visibility of test scores
by user, group, or company. Best of all, the LMS
provides training recommendations based on test
results. These recommendations help your company
pinpoint areas that require the most attention.
Training Agendas
Distributors often do not have the time to
administer educational curriculums for their
employees. It can be a time-consuming effort–
unless you have an LMS to do the heavy lifting
for you. The Epicor LMS includes default training
agendas based on each employee’s functional
role within the organization, whether they are
involved with accounting, purchasing and inventory,
sales and order entry, system administration, or
management. So if you don’t have the time to
define a training path for your employees, the LMS
has already done this for you!
The Learning Center home page is your employees’ portal into all of their educational and
training needs.
However, you may wish to create your own training agendas that can be built
once and deployed over and over again with minimal effort. Perhaps you would
like to generate a new employee agenda that includes tasks, courses, and tests
for any new employee to complete during their orientation with your company.
All of this can be handled efficiently from the Learning Center, allowing
management to spend less time on redundant employee orientation and more
time proactively leading the business. At the same time, new employees can get
up to speed much faster.

Extensibility
Training with the LMS is not limited to the Epicor application.
Perhaps you would like to educate employees on your company’s
product lines, customer service skills, or corporate policies. In
some cases, it may be mandatory for your organization to have
a record of employees who have completed courses on sexual
harassment awareness or management training.
The LMS can be your vehicle to deploy and track education
outside of the Eclipse application. Administrators may upload
existing training documents to the Company Library section
of the Learning Center, such as an Employee Benefits guide or
sales training video. This way, all of your company’s educational
resources can be stored in one central location.
In addition, the site also allows administrators to note and
report on employee accomplishments, such as a technical
training certification or attendance at an industry meeting.
These accomplishments may be used to track individual career
development and promote continued performance improvement.
The Learning Management System (LMS) is much more than
